As soon as Lizzy said that, everybody was stunned.

Nell was the first to react. She quickly squatted down to cover Lizzy’s open mouth.

Then, she displayed an awkward smile to Lucy and spoke, “I’m so sorry. Kids say the darndest things. She doesn’t know what she’s talking about.”

After all, judging by Lucy’s tone earlier, she did not admit to being in a relationship with Joel. Since they were not together, having a baby was out of the question.

Nell was Lucy’s boss, but she felt that her daughter’s sudden utterance had offended the couple.

Lucy’s face was red with embarrassment as well. She quickly shook her head. “No offense taken.”

Joel came to his senses too. He coughed awkwardly and immediately changed the subject to avoid talking about such topics in front of a child.

“Sis-in-law, it’s getting late. We’ll head there.”

Nell nodded.

“Go, then. Enjoy yourselves.”

Then, Joel led Lucy away.

Once they were gone, Nell exhaled a pent-up sigh of relief.

After leaving the art exhibition, Lucy and Joel went to the museum next door.

Joel wanted to go to the children’s art exhibition, while Lucy was interested in visiting the museum.

At first, she thought of accompanying him to the art exhibition, then going to the museum on her own.

However, Joel tagged along.

It meant that he would be accompanying her.

Although Lucy felt reluctant, she could not change the man’s mind, so he allowed him to follow her.

The couple strolled around casually. This place was a technological museum.

Initially, Lucy was fascinated by such gadgets. In reality, she found out that she was unfamiliar with most of them.

Luckily, Joel was knowledgeable about technology. With him explaining by her side, many things soon began to make sense and she finally comprehended them.

She then asked him about technology-related subjects that she had read about on the internet, but that which she did not fully understand.

Joel answered each of her questions. Despite how deep and profound the subjects were, she managed to grasp most of them.

At the same time, a middle-aged man in a suit ran towards them, huffing and puffing in the process. Two museum employees followed him behind his back.

He approached Joel and smiled at him. “It’s really you, Second Young Master Foster. Why didn’t you send someone to inform me of your arrival? That way, I can make the necessary arrangements to receive you.”

Joel nodded and said coolly, “Why the big fuss? I’m just accompanying my girlfriend.”

Girlfriend?

The middle-aged man felt surprised. Then, he noticed Lucy, who was standing beside Joel.

As she was wearing a face mask and a cap, the man did not recognize her immediately. He merely replied in an unsure manner, “This is… How may I address you?”

Lucy glanced around the area. This side of the technological museum was less popular and had fewer visitors.

“Just my luck! Why do I have to meet this b*tch here?!”

Shannon grumbled nastily. Her two relatives saw Lucy as well and began to snigger.

“Hey, what’s your name? Why didn’t you greet our Elder Sister Shannon? Aren’t you afraid of offending her?”

“Yeah, did you know that apart from the Four Great Clans, Elder Sister Shannon’s clan is the most influential one in existence? Don’t you belong to showbiz? Great, Elder Sister Shannon belongs to the same industry as well. If you kneel down at once and kowtow to her thrice, she might protect you in the future.”

Then, the woman who said this roared with laughter.

Lucy eyed them emotionlessly. She kept quiet and turned around to continue on her path.

The woman was infuriated and rushed forward to grab her. “Hey! What kind of attitude is that? I offered you a bit of friendly advice and you remained silent. What’s the meaning of this?”

Lucy threw a glance at her.

If she remembered correctly, that woman was Ursula Peterson, Shannon’s cousin. She had a poor reputation among the socialites in the capital and was commonly known to be two-faced.

Lucy chuckled coldly and shoved Ursula’s hand away. She said coolly, “Thanks for the reminder, but I’m just a small fry. I’m hardly ambitious even though I work in showbiz and I live according to my means, so don’t you worry about me.”

“Oh, so you’re just an unaspiring bum! And I thought you were somebody!”

Shannon scoffed and raised her voice. “Hey, you’ve been walking around for a while. Can you afford the items here?”

A crease gradually formed between Lucy’s brows.

Ursula joined in as well. “Didn’t you know? This museum functions on a charity basis. The items here can be bought and the proceeds will be donated to the museum as part of their research fund. Haven’t you bought something after spending quite some time here?”

Lucy stared at her empty hands. Indeed, she did not buy anything.
