Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 559

Lucy Katz nodded.

She lifted her finger and pointed towards the sofa to avoid any awkwardness.

“Have a seat first. Do you want water? I’ll pour you a glass.”

Joel nodded and did not reject it.

After Lucy poured him a glass of water, the whole house slipped into an uncomfortable silence. The atmosphere was awkward.

She did not know why this man, who was out of her life for so long, decided to come over today out of the blue. She felt uneasy and even more puzzled.

Lucy did not know what to say at this time.

Joel quietly sipped his water and put his glass down.

He leaned against the sofa and stretched his back comfortably. He looked at her with a blank face and said, “Why are you standing there? Come sit.”

As he said this, he tapped on the spot next to him.

Lucy hesitated for a while. Although the two of them had a deal and she could not run away from what’s to come eventually, she did not think that she would be getting into a relationship with him this quickly.

Her body also subconsciously refused to approach him.

Therefore, she could only stand there.

Joel guessed that she was thinking about that.

He laughed and did not get mad.

Joel retracted his hand and absent-mindedly played with the ring on his finger. His voice was cold.

“You don’t have anything you want to explain to me?”

Lucy was taken aback by his question and did not understand what he meant.

Explanation?

What did she need to explain?

Joel squinted slightly when he saw her confused look.

Shortly after, he let out a sarcastic laugh.

“Don’t tell me that you didn’t see the news online?”

Lucy was stunned and only then did she realize what he was referring to.

Her face was instantly overcome with embarrassment.

Sh*t! She forgot about this!

When the gossip was leaked, Lucy only thought about Director Coombs and had completely forgotten about her relationship with Joel.

Joel was a petty person, so no matter what feelings he had for her, he would not allow nor like the fact that his things were involved with someone else.

It did not matter whether the involvement was real or fake, he did not condone this.

As Lucy thought about this, she hurriedly shook her head as if she was begging for mercy, then she stuttered, “I...I saw it. I was going to call you, but you came over.”

Joel could tell with one look that she just made up that excuse on the spot.

He sneered, “Just about to call me? Ha! Did you think I was born yesterday?”

As he said this, he tapped a finger on his watch and said, “The picture was leaked two days ago. Now it’s been over 48 hours and you’re saying that you were about to explain it to me?

“Were you going to call me or did you already forget about my existence? You just came up with this lousy excuse to pacify me now that you have nowhere to hide, right?”

The man’s aura was powerful and carried a coldness with a hint of forcefulness.

Lucy was forced to back up until her back was against the wall and could no longer retreat any further.

Her whole body was glued to the wall.

Joel reached out and placed his hand next to her ear. His upper body bent slightly.

His sharp eyes narrowed and he looked into her eyes.

“Did I not tell you that I don’t like my things being touched by anyone else? You’re my woman, so you should understand this and keep your distance from other men!”

Lucy could only nod her head.

“Then why was a picture like this leaked?”

Lucy sighed helplessly and could only tell him the truth.

She looked into Joel’s eyes and said blankly, “I was drunk. He just helped me to the car. This shouldn’t be a big deal, right? You weren't even there at that moment and I couldn’t possibly walk by myself. You can’t expect Carina to carry me down all by herself, do you?”

Joel let out a cold laugh and suddenly pinched her chin with two fingers. He gritted his teeth and asked, “Who allowed you to drink when I’m not around?”

Lucy frowned and she felt a sharp pain on her chin. She felt exasperated.

She averted her eyes and snorted, “Can I not be happy? So now I don’t even have the right to have a drink when I’m happy?”

It was intended to be a rhetorical question, but the man suddenly responded, “That’s right. When I’m not around, you don’t have the right to drink. Not even one glass. I won’t allow other men to see my woman’s drunken behavior.”

Lucy’s eyes widened and looked at him with disbelief.

She felt that this man had become so overbearing to the point of being unreasonable.

Lucy angrily retorted, “Joel Foster! Don’t go too far! Even though I agreed to be your woman, I’m not your pet! I can’t possibly do everything to your liking!”
