Liam always thought Nell could not race.
Therefore, he rejected her request without any hesitation when she first brought it up.
Although he agreed to it after hearing about the bet, he was not very hopeful about it.
Who knew, Nell was quite skillful!
When Liam looked at the car that was tailing him, he naturally thought about the lady. She wore a mask and hid shyly behind Nell a few minutes ago.
The lady’s eyes were like a hook made of aged wine, and it easily evoked many complicated and painful emotions from the bottom of his heart.
‘Damn it!
‘How dare she show up in front of me!’
Liam punched the steering wheel, and his face was incredibly dark.
‘She wants to have a meal with me?
‘Hah! In her dreams!’
He curled his lips into a grim smile as he looked into the rearview mirror once more.
The car behind him was still following him closely, which made it evident that the racer was rather skillful.
Nonetheless, so what if Nell was skilled?
He would not lose!
Liam was determined not to let that lady approach him again to hurt him!
Upon having the thought, Liam hit the accelerator to speed up.
On the other hand, Nell was composed when she noticed the car in front of him accelerate.
‘Tsk, you seem very agitated, brother. Looks like you’re set on winning!
‘Sadly, you’re unlucky to have met me today!’
Soon, there would be a 90-degree sharp turn ahead.
Since Nell had been keeping track of the time, she figured that it was about time. A stern look could be seen on her face as she suddenly stepped on the accelerator and drifted wonderfully at the turn. With that, she arrived beside Liam’s car.
Inside the car, the man was clearly surprised.
The grave expression on his face seemed colder than before.
Liam pressed on the accelerator to speed up again.
Nell followed suit.
Outside of the tracks, the members from both teams were stupefied when they watched the competition through the big screen.
‘Oh god, oh god, oh god!’
‘Someone’s finally on par with Liam Jackman.’
The outcome was not yet decided, but at the very least, someone broke the myth about Liam being an unsurpassable racer.
It was too frightening! It was too stimulating!
Of course, the members from the Dark Horse Racing Team were the most thrilled.
They were not optimistic about Nell at first, so they did not expect her to surprise them!
‘Oh god, this speed, this constant force!’
‘Even Elder Brother Leith from four years ago isn’t this capable, okay?’
‘Ah, pfft, pfft, pfft! Elder Brother Leith is forever the best… Mm… Although that’s only what we think.’
The two racers were near the finishing line, but they were still next to each other, neither of them willing to give way to the other.
Liam secretly picked up his speed again to make a final spurt.
However, the car beside him suddenly rumbled, and his opponent moved faster and swooshed past him.
Liam widened his eyes.
‘Damn it!
‘That lady beat me to it!’
It was too late for him to increase his speed, and they passed the finishing line almost at the same time. In the end, the Dark Horse Racing Team emerged victorious with a mere 0.04 seconds lead!
Everyone was dumbfounded.
They were in disbelief!
Nell only remembered Janet after she made an appointment with Gareth.
Nevertheless, she could not spot her best friend no matter how she looked.
Nell initially thought Janet was with the Flying Eagle Racing Team.
She looked as hard as she could, but she only noticed the dark-faced Liam walking away with his teammates; there was no sign of Janet.
Nell could not help but frown.
‘Where did that little girl go?’
Nell retrieved her phone to call Janet, but nobody picked up. Feeling helpless, she could only ask the Dark Horse Racing Team members to help look for her best friend.
After all, the racetrack was at a rather remote place. Janet was a lady and a celebrity, so it would be difficult to manage if something happened.
While Nell and the other people looked everywhere, on the other side, in the parking lot…
Janet bent over as she quietly made her way to the car.
She took the key out of her pocket and unlocked the car so that she could get it.
All of a sudden, an arm extended over the top of her head as someone pressed the door.
Janet’s heart skipped a beat.
Sure enough, when she turned to look, she saw the unemotional man standing behind her.
It was silent around them. As compared to the clamorous scene at the racetrack, the parking lot was much quieter.
Dim street lights were seen a distance away, and they looked like a few cooked egg yolks in the pitch-black night sky. Instead of being bright and warm, they gave off a cold and lonely feel.
Janet forced a smile and straightened her back.
“Why did you come out?”
She lowered her head to avoid Liam’s eyes. Though she was trying hard to look calm, her tense body and shaking voice showed how nervous she was.
Liam withdrew her hand and put it in his pocket. He looked down at her from above.
The handsome man did not seem gentle at all; a cold and wild look could be seen on his angular face. When he kept a straight face, he seemed indifferent and chilly.
“Don’t you want to have a meal with me? She won the competition, why are you running away?”
