Alexander Jeeves said from behind, “Young Master is taking care of some things. Missus, please have a seat first!”
Janet turned around and smiled at him. She placed the cake on the table and sat on the sofa.
“Want something to drink?”
“Anything is fine.”
“Is red tea alright with you?”
“Yup!”
There was an antique tea set on the table. Alexander skillfully brewed the tea, demonstrating his mastered KungFu Tea Style.
Janet looked thoughtful.
Not long after, the fresh fragrance of tea filled up the room. Alexander served Janet a cup of brewed tea. She took a small sip and could taste the slight bitterness of the tea, followed by a sweet aftertaste. It was truly a nice brew.
“I didn’t think you’d have it in you!”
Alexander smiled shyly and sat opposite Janet.
“Young Master likes it, so I took up a short course during my free time! I hope I didn’t embarrass myself!”
Janet smiled and said, “Liam’s lucky to have such a loyal assistant!”
Alexander shook his head, a complex emotion flashed across his face.
“The Griffin family was kind to me and Young Master is the Griffin family’s heir. Not only will I brew this tea, but even if I have to sacrifice my life, I’ll gladly do it.”
At this moment, the room door opened and the people inside started filing out.
Alexander stood up, peered through the glass panel at Liam, and gestured to Janet to head inside.
Janet got up and carried the cake with her while walking to the office.
“Why did you come so suddenly?”
Liam was still sitting behind his desk and did not lift his head to acknowledge her. He was too concentrated on a business report.
Janet walked over, placed the cake on his desk, and smiled.
“I missed you, so I came over! I arrived this morning but was worried you haven’t eaten yet. I even brought you some cake!”
Liam finally looked at her, glanced at the cake, and paused.
He lowered his eyelids and was emotionless.
“Say it! What do you need help with?”
Janet choked.
She secretly cursed him in her mind, ‘This devil! Can he not be so smart?’
In reality, over the past half a year, though the two of them looked like they have reconciled and might even look affectionate from a third party perspective, only Janet knew that this man still could not let go of the past.
Due to this, the two of them naturally formed a gap.
She pouted, dragged a leather chair next to him, and sat down angrily.
Liam Jackman was serious when he worked. She did not speak up, so he also did not say a word.
There was silence in the office and one could hear the soft scribbling sound of a pen over a piece of paper.
Janet waited until he finished checking the stack of documents.
She asked, “Are you done?”
Liam nodded.
“Then hurry and eat this!”
Liam was stunned for a moment and looked at her with a baffled face. It was as if a flower had grown out of her head!
“You’re suddenly so nice to me. There’s surely nothing good.”
Although he said this, he still called on Alexander to bring in some cutleries.
The cake was not small. He cut a slice for himself and gave the rest to Alexander.
Seeing her man seated behind his desk and eating the cake gracefully, Janet thought to herself, ‘He’s probably always so busy that he forgets to eat!’
“Follow the missus and find out where she lives. Help her with some arrangements. I’ll go over after work.”
Alexander responded, “Yes, understood.”
Liam waved his hand and Alexander left the room.

Janet left the building frustrated. She threw her purse in the car and sat inside.
She did not have much hope when she came to meet Liam.
Even so, Janet still felt hurt as she only managed to say a few words before getting blatantly rejected by him.
What should she do now?
This house was worth 10 million. This was nothing to her when she was still on good terms with her father, but in her current situation, 10 million was not a small sum.
The charity auction was the day after and time was imminent. Where would she find such a big sum of money?
Her eyes wandered around and her gaze stopped at the phone beside her. She frowned slightly.
In the end, she picked up her phone and dialed her brother 一 Ulric Hancock’s number.
The call was quickly connected.
“Jan, what’s up?”
“Ummm...”
She lived all her life without having to ask for a penny. This time, it was hard for her to make such a request.
Thinking about the house, she bit down and said, “Brother, can you get 10 million for me by tomorrow?”
Ulric Hancock was shocked. “Why do you need so much money?”
“Don’t ask! I have my reasons.”
After some thought, she quickly added, “It’s best if it’s your personal savings, not the kind where Father has access to.”
