Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 401

Old Master Garrett’s expression was livid. His eyes were full of contempt.

“Do you think the Shelby family can get anything just by demanding it? What do you take my Garrett family for? Putting aside whether we found that child, even if we did, it has nothing to do with you! I’m warning you, as long as I’m alive, don’t even think about having any ideas regarding that child!”

Gale’s voice sank. “Although she was born to Ms. Garrett, she’s also my eldest brother’s flesh and blood as well as the heir to our Bauhinia Clan. We won’t give up no matter what!”

The Old Master let out a sneer, no longer having the strength to argue with him.

Seeing this, Gale bowed and said politely, “I’m sorry for bothering you. I’ll come back again.”

Then, he turned to leave.

The butler came in after Gale left. Seeing the Old Master sit there with a pale and livid face, he quickly ran over.

“Old Master, what’s wrong? Are you okay?!”

Old Master Garrett waved his hand and pointed to the medicine bottle on the table beside him.

The butler hurriedly fed him a pill, and the Old Master’s complexion got better after a while.

“Call Joseph and tell him to come back immediately to see me.”

“Understood.”

With that, Joseph returned soon after.

Old Master Garrett called him to the study, where the two stayed for a whole afternoon. No one knew what they talked about or what decisions they had made in there.

The next day, Nell received an invitation from the Garrett family again.

It said that there was an important matter to discuss and that she must make the time to go there.

The invitation was very formal. Moreover, the words written on it were serious and sincere.

However, no matter how much Nell thought about it, she could not figure out what important matter the Garrett family would have with her that she had to go there personally.

Despite that, since they had already said this much, Nell had to go no matter how reluctant she was.

She would seem unreasonable otherwise.

Thus, that night, Nell went to the Garretts with Gideon accompanying her.

It was only after arriving at the residence did she notice that all of the members of the Garrett family were present.

Besides Old Master Garrett, Joseph, Harriet, Stephanie, as well as several other elders from the side branches of the Garrett family were there. Even Old Master Leith and Old Madam Quinton were present as well.

Nell was completely surprised.

“Grandpa, Grandma, why are you here too?” She walked over to Old Madam Quinton and asked, puzzled.

The expressions on the two’s faces were odd when they looked at her.

It was obvious that Old Master Garrett had already told them the purpose of gathering everyone here today before Nell arrived.

The Old Madam looked at her with a complicated expression and sighed. “Nelly, since you’re here, take a seat first. No matter what you hear later, don’t be afraid. You’ll always be the granddaughter-in-law of our Leith family. No one can force you into anything.”

Nell paused, feeling even more surprised.

She looked back at Gideon with questioning eyes, but the man’s gaze was deep and he did not give her any answer.

Helpless, she had no choice but to sit down.

As Old Master Garrett had suffered a relapse in the past two days, the doctor had told him to stay in bed and rest, so he could not get down and walk around.

Therefore, when everyone arrived, he was still in his room.

Nell was a little surprised because she recognized this woman. If she remembered correctly, she had seen her in the old Garrett residence during the night of the Old Master’s birthday ceremony. She was the maid that used to serve Juliette Garrett before and remained with the Garrett family after Juliette had passed away. She was regarded as an old worker for the Garretts.

The woman handed over a document to Old Master Garrett, and he passed it to a lawyer by the side, telling him to open the document himself. Then, he turned to look at Nell.

“I’ve called you all here today to announce my will. When I die, you must all follow the words of this will to the letter without fail.”

Everyone was shocked by his words.

As Old Master Garrett had been in poor health for a long time, they had heard that he did not have much longer to live.

However, the will would only matter within the direct line of descendent of the Garrett family. Since Jim Garrett was sent abroad, the only person who had the ability and strength to succeed the Garrett family was Joseph Garrett.

Therefore, everyone tacitly knew that Joseph would be the one in charge of the Garrett family in the future. In fact, Joseph was already solely responsible for Garrett Corporation.

In that case, it was only natural that everything in the Garrett family would be Joseph’s in the future. So why would there be any need to declare the will in front of so many people now?

Everyone was baffled. Even Nell could not help but frown in confusion.

She had never thought about Joseph or the Garrett family’s matter before. She had thought that a member of the Garrett family announcing his will would only involve the members of the Garrett family.

Since Old Master Leith and Old Madam Quinton were close friends of Old Master Garrett, and they had high positions, so it was reasonable for them to come over as witnesses.

However, Gideon and she were from the younger generation who had nothing to do with the Garrett family’s assets.

Why did Old Master Garrett specifically invite them over?

However, no matter how many questions she had, since she was already here, she could not leave now.

Nell could only steel her nerves and continue to sit there, listening to the document.

Old Master Garrett gave the lawyer a look, who nodded before opening the copy of the will and reading it out loud.
