Nell quickly turned over the brochure in her hand and read the introduction of the crescent earrings.
It was a pair of natural crescent-shaped blue diamonds that were discovered in a new mine from South Africa this year which were extremely rare and hard to find. It only became what it was now after the designer’s precise cutting and polishing.
Frankly speaking, Nell was very impressed.
Besides her, all the ladies present also could not help but exclaim the moment the earrings were revealed. It was clear that everyone was amazed.
After all, everyone loved beauty.
It was too pretty!
Joel was somewhat interested too, but when he saw Nell’s enchanted eyes, he eventually pushed down his thoughts.
Forget it, a good man doesn’t fight with a woman. Since so many women wanted it, he would be hated by thousands if he were to compete for it.
Sure enough, someone quickly started to bid.
The starting bid was ten million, with the bid increment being one million, and before long, the price was increased to eighty million.
Nell really wanted the earrings, but after seeing how the bids were getting increasingly higher, she hesitated and endured the excitement in her heart.
Eighty million! Yet it might still go up; it was too expensive!
She then realized that compared to the diamond earrings, the eight million jade hairpin from earlier paled in comparison.
“Eighty-five million, from the lady holding Number 26! Is there a higher price?”
“Ninety million!”
A voice suddenly shouted.
Everyone turned to look towards that voice, only to see that it was that woman, Joanne Nolan, again.
She sat in the front row with a curl on her lips and a confident look on her face. Her sexy neck tilted up, and the white skin on her chest appeared more fair and radiant under her red dress and the lights.
Nell could hear the sound of many men swallowing their saliva.
She secretly narrowed her eyes at them and turned to Gideon.
Fortunately, it was as if he did not see that scene as his eyes were still set on the stage, expressionless.
“Ninety million! The lady holding Number 16 raised the price to ninety million! Is there anyone else who would like to bid?”
No one made a sound even after ten seconds.
Just as the MC was about to swing down the hammer, a deep and cold voice suddenly sounded, “One hundred million!”
What?
One hundred million?
Everyone looked back in disbelief. When they saw that the bidder was Gideon Leith, most of them understood.
It was Young Master Leith, so it was fine to make a bid of one hundred million. In fact, it was not that surprising.
Everyone could not help but show an envious expression towards Nell.
Those who did not recognize Gideon only felt amazed when they saw his face.
What a handsome man!
Being rich and handsome had always been the most irresistible temptation for women. Moreover, only people with extraordinary identities could come to this place. To be rich, handsome, and have an extraordinary status, it was enough to make most women flock to him.
Nell whispered under her breath, “What are you doing?”
Gideon held her hand and said nothing.
“One hundred million, from that gentlemen holding Number 32. Is there anyone else who would like to bid?”
Joanne Nolan looked at Gideon and revealed a pleading expression.
That face seemed to say, ‘Young Master Leith, please be merciful and let me off!’
Nell’s expression darkened slightly.
Joel could not help but ridicule.
Joanne had already noticed Joel earlier. After all, he was the second son of the Foster family, as well as a name that popped up frequently in the entertainment media, so she naturally knew who he was.
However, her target was not a rich and sentimental playboy, but someone like Gideon Leith who would be of great help to her father politically and financially, which was why she did not speak to Joel.
Seeing him speak now, she smiled. “Second Young Master Foster is joking. All my other sisters are in good health. Only Elder Sister Heather is ill. I only asked Young Master Leith to be magnanimous because I like this pair of earrings personally.”
Nell looked at her and suddenly spoke, “What makes you think that he has to acquiesce to you?”
Joanne was slightly stunned as if she did not expect for Nell to open her mouth.
She smiled amorously. “Little sister, you don’t understand this. One is only called a gentleman if they don’t compete with a woman. You’re still young, so it doesn’t matter if you don’t know, but you’ll learn when you grow up.”
The implications in her words made Nell very unhappy.
“Is that so? What if we refuse to let go?”
Joanne smiled. “That’ll depend on Young Master Leith.”
She looked at him longingly. “If Young Master Leith is willing to give a humble girl like me some face, then I’ll be so grateful that I’ll definitely repay the favor if there’s a chance in the future.”
Nell’s face darkened at Joanne’s limpid eyes.
Joel laughed. “How will you repay him? With your body?”
Unexpectedly, Joanne did not deny it but only giggled. “If Young Master Leith is interested, then there’s nothing wrong with that.”
Nell could not hold back anymore. Joanne clearly saw her by Gideon’s side yet she still dared to say such words. Did she think that Nell was invisible?
She said coldly, “Miss Nolan, I think you should understand that Young Master Leith is someone who already has a wife. Isn’t it a little too distasteful for you to seduce him in front of me like this? Is the style of the Nolan family this debauched?”
Her words were very impolite.
If it were someone else, they might have exploded with anger at those words.
Yet unexpectedly, Joanne smiled gently. “Oh, Mrs. Leith is too anxious. I was just joking. Why are you taking it so seriously? Could it be that Mrs. Leith doesn’t trust Young Master Leith?”
