Looking at those simple few words on her screen, Nell could not hold back any more as she let out a chuckle. “Pffft!”
Hearing her sudden outburst, some people around her were suddenly taken aback.
She hurriedly waved her hand and explained, “I’m so sorry, please continue enjoying yourselves. I have to take a phone call.”
After saying her piece, she grabbed her phone and scurried out into the hallway.
As she prepared to call Gideon, her phone suddenly started to ring. Someone was calling her.
She was shocked. As she saw the unknown number on the caller ID, she frowned.
Then, she picked up the phone.
“Hello? Who’s this?”
“Seven, long time no see… I’m back.”
…
As the more astute members of the set would have noticed, ever since that night, Nell Jennings seemed to be in a bad mood.
She kept spacing out during filming. In private, she no longer joined everyone else for any gathering.
Every day after work, she would immediately head back to the hotel along with Nancy.
Even during filming, when there was the occasional break, she stopped making small talk with everyone. She would always sit alone in one corner, doing her own things.
In the beginning, they thought that she was still unhappy over the incident that had gotten her injured.
However, she still treated her two prop team colleagues with respect, never bringing up the incident.
Everyone could not help but feel a bit helpless as to what to do.
It was not just the crew who had noticed this change. Even Nancy Murray, who was usually quite dense about these sorts of things, noticed the change.
Naturally, Nancy was worried about her, thus, she found an opportunity to ask Nell about it.
“Nelly, what’s up with you these few days? Why do you always look like you’re always out of it?”
Nell was shocked by the sudden statement. Regaining her composure, she quickly shook her head.
“I’m fine.”
Nancy frowned, obviously not believing her.
Nell pursed her lips together as she said softly, “I’m really fine, I just feel a bit under the weather these couple of days. I should feel better soon.”
Nancy’s first instinct was that Nell was referring to the wounds. Even though they started to recover, it would undoubtedly still hurt during rainy or humid days.
“I’ll get a doctor for you.”
Nell immediately stopped her.
“No!” She helplessly urged. “My hands feel fine… Umm… Just take it as me having a bad mood, okay? It’s fine! Really! Don’t worry!”
Hearing her say that, there was nothing else Nancy could do.
That day, the crew had finally completed all the location shooting. Now, all that was left was to go back to the studio and shoot the rest of the scenes.
Since they were no longer doing location shooting, there was no longer a need to run around the mountains and the wilderness anymore. Naturally, the entire set was moved back to the studio in the capital.
On the first day of filming, everything went on without a hitch. The next morning, a delivery man with a huge bouquet suddenly stepped into the studio, asking for Nell to sign for the delivery.
Everyone just assumed this was a gift from Gideon. After all, ever since their relationship was made public, he would have people send gifts over to her every few days.
For a generic gift like this to appear, it had already become a common sight to everyone on set.
With that in mind, she stopped digging into this incident.
Surprisingly, on the next day, another delivery man brought an even bigger bouquet of roses to the set.
After what had happened yesterday, everyone knew that the flowers were not from Gideon Leith.
Seeing another bouquet today, some of them could not help but tease Nell, “Nelly, not bad! Aren’t you afraid President Leith finds out that you accepted such a big bouquet of roses? If he gets jealous, you might have to go home to sleep on the couch tonight!”
Nell was a little embarrassed from being made fun of as she instantly retorted, “Shut up! Don’t say things like that, this is just an average interaction between a fan and a celebrity! Get your mind out of the gutter!”
“Tsk tsk! The average interactions would probably stop at maybe flowers like tulips! Look at them, they’re all red roses! Red rose represents a fervent and passionate love - Nelly, I have a feeling that someone has the hots for you!”
Nell could not help but laugh at her statement.
“Oh? By your phrasing, you think that I’m that easy of a woman to be swept off her feet by just a few roses? Stop stirring the pot! I’m warning you guys, I’m a proudly married woman, so don’t go around starting rumors. If I hear any come around, I’ll definitely deal with you guys!”
She feigned anger in retaliation but that was just met with more laughter. No one was afraid of her as they continued their teasing.
“Tsk tsk! When it comes to these things, the wives are usually supposed to be the strict ones, but in your case, it seems like it’s the other way around. You seem awfully afraid that President Leith will find out, huh? Nelly, we might not be as influential as they are, but we still gotta puff our chest out with pride! We can’t keep living under the constant domination of another party!”
Hearing that, Nell did not know whether she should laugh or cry. She was quite flustered at this point as she playfully pushed her colleague.
With that, the group broke out into laughter.
In reality, they were right. Nell was undoubtedly quite cautious over these sorts of things.
The first reason was due to her status as a married woman. No matter if it were true or not, if rumors were to spread that she was having some scandalous affair with another man, it would harm her image.
Online gossip was a terrifying thing. They could worship the ground you walk on one day and mercilessly tear you down the next.
After dealing with PR for so many years, Nell knew how to protect her image, thus, she had always been cautious in this regard.
The second reason was more simple. She just did not want to let such a boring thing affect her relationship with Gideon.
