Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 331

Gideon was also aware of this news but compared to Nell’s apprehension, he took it easy.

“Youngest Graham is self-reliant, he won’t yield to his family. If he does, that means he doesn’t have independent ability and determination from the start. He’d have to marry other women even if he doesn’t tie the knot with Celine. It’s all for mutual benefit and there’s really no difference.”

Nell was still worried.

“But she...”

Looking into her eyes, Gideon gently pinched the palm of her hand.

“Don’t be scared,” he whispered, “The Grahams and the Leiths are already on opposite sides. For that woman to do that to you, you guys will never bury the hatchet and become friends again regardless of whether she marries Youngest Graham. She’ll remain the enemy. It doesn’t affect you whether or not they tie the knot.”

Nell lifted her head and gazed at him. A hint of woe unraveled between her fine brows.

“Is it really okay? Can you handle it alone if the Garretts stand together with the Grahams?”

Gideon smiled.

He reached out and carefully cupped her face, his finger caressing her face. A while later, he spoke softly, “I can if you always stand by my side.”

Nell’s heart thumped.

The man’s gaze was so gentle yet firm. There was an unspoken force that gradually calmed her heart.

Extending her hands, she cradled around his waist and stuck her face close to his chest.

“I’ll always stand by you and we’ll always be together no matter what happens.”

Gideon curled his lips in delight.

“Don’t worry. The Grahams won’t take any measure in these two days. They’d at least wait until after the New Year to make a move. Just indulge in the holidays before then, okay?”

Nell nodded and hummed in acknowledgment.

...

On the other side, Jincheng.

Of course, it was a bustle in the Hancock household during the first day of the Lunar New Year.

As the boss of the leading enterprise in Jincheng, Ethan welcomed an endless stream of visitors on this day.

Ulric, the young master of the Hancock family, tended to socialization as well.

The maids in the house were as busy as a bee, working from the back kitchen to the lobby. They did not stop for even a second.

Thus, Janet, who had nothing to do, was the only one in the entire family with time in her hands.

She could not be bothered to face hobnobbing mugs. Hence, she stayed upstairs and even had lunch sent to her room to eat.

Busy entertaining guests, Ethan did not bother with her. On the contrary, Ulric, in the midst, sent someone to look for her once, enquiring whether she would like to take a seat downstairs. A lot of elders from the company had arrived and she, as the younger generation, should meet up since she was back in Jincheng.

However, he was rejected by Janet.

She had never thought to get involved with the company affairs. It was enough to have her father and brother in the company.

So, of course, she would not waste her time to meet these people.

Ulric felt helpless but was clear of his sister’s temper. He did not pursue the matter.

As there were too many guests and Janet refused to help out, the household without a hostess was a madhouse even with an abundance of maids around.

With that, Ethan booked a private room in a nearby five-star hotel and prepared to take them there for a meal.

Not wanting to go, Janet nestled in her room and watched television dramas.

As they were still giving each other the silent treatment, Ethan let her be. There were maids in the house anyway and ready meals. She would not go hungry. He then took his guests out when it was time.

Hearing the hubbub outside gradually fading away, Janet turned off the tablet in front of her and closed her eyes. She put on her slippers and went out.

With her finally out of the bedroom, a maid immediately advanced forward.

“Eldest Miss, where are you going?”

Stiffening her face, Janet looked away.

Ulric sighed at her stubbornness.

“We have our reasons why we won’t let you be together with that man but you won’t listen and insist on running away with him. You even have his child. We can let these pass.

“However, have you called home in the entire year? Did you show concern? Dad isn’t angry about you and that man but the daughter he nurtured all those years raised hell in the family because of a man. If it were you, wouldn’t you feel upset as well? Wouldn’t you feel disappointed?”

Janet’s eyes reddened.

She pursed her lips and lowered her head to wipe the corners of her eyes.

Moments later, she muttered under her breath, “It’s not like I didn’t want to contact him.”

She always got a good dressing-down every time she called home. Over time, she just did not want to be the receiving end of a lecture.

Ulric burst out laughing and despondently shook his head.

He extended his arm to fondle the top of her head. His tone was rather helpless.

“My silly little sister, you really are silly.”

With a lump in her throat, Janet could not express any words.

Ulric turned and retrieved a document from between the drawers and handed it to her.

Surprised, Janet took it. Her eyes widened in shock when she took a good look at the content of the document.

“Didn’t you say you don’t know...”

Ulric shrugged. “I really don’t and neither did I steal it for you. If Dad were to ask, you mustn’t sell me out or else you’re not my sister anymore.”

Janet was stunned. It took a while before she snapped out of it. That was when she pounced to give Ulric a hug.

“Thank you, Brother.”
