Tara smiled in self-mockery and said, “Thank you, Senior Brother, but don’t you think we aren’t suitable for each other?”
Her words made Owen stunned. He panicked for a moment before quickly calming down again.
“I admit that my personality is a little wooden, but if you don’t mind…”
“No, that’s not what I meant.”
“It’s not?” Owen was startled. Then, he seemed to think of something and smiled.
“If it’s not that, then you don’t have to worry about anything else. On my family’s side, as long as it’s someone I like, they’ll like her too. However, I don’t know if your parents can accept me. After all, compared to the Garrett family, my Jackson family is…”
Tara laughed. “As long as I insist, my parents won’t be too opposed to it.”
Owen was stunned before becoming overjoyed. “Does that mean you agree?”
Tara’s face immediately turned red and she bit her lip. Although she tried her best to restrain herself, the corners of her mouth could not help but overflow with a smile.
Looking at his joyful appearance, her heart turned sweet as honey, but she still said, “I didn’t say I agree. I still need to think about it.”
Owen nodded at the words. “Of course, you need to think about it. It’s a matter of lifelong importance after all. You’re a girl, so it’s only right to be cautious.”
After a pause, he added. “You can think about it before giving me an answer. I’ll wait for you.”
The words “I’ll wait for you” almost made Tara unable to hold back and agree to him on the spot.
However, she remained rational and only nodded, and stopped talking.
The car soon arrived at the Garrett’s home. Owen got out and opened the door for her like a gentleman. After Tara got out, she said, “I’ll go in first.”
Owen nodded and the girl turned, and walked inside.
After just a few steps, a man’s voice sounded from behind here. “Tara!”
Tara paused and turned back to him in puzzlement.
Under the sunlight, the man’s tall stature was like a handsome prince from a fairy tale. He hesitated but did not say anything important.
He simply smiled and said, “Rest well and don’t think too much.”
It took a moment for Tara to understand his meaning.
She smiled and nodded. Then, the two stopped speaking and she walked into the house.
When she entered the house and was sure that the man could no longer see her, she finally could not restrain the smile on her face. Her heart leaped in her chest.
Although she had not said yes earlier, she had already agreed in her heart!
Owen said that he wanted to be responsible for her. In her understanding, he was talking about his responsibility as a man. Since such a thing happened, he would take responsibility for what had happened.
However, so what? If he was willing to put forward this proposal, it meant that he was not disgusted with her! She could feel that there was even the possibility that he liked her. Otherwise, he would not have bought clothes for her as well as that…
Tara blushed quietly. After all, he was someone she liked for many years. Even if he was not in love with her now, it was enough if he just liked her a little!
The future was long. As long as she was willing to work hard, he would fall in love with her one day.
The more Tara thought about it, the more her mood leaped. She wanted nothing more than to skip and twirl around.
However, at that moment, a cold voice suddenly sounded beside her. “Tara, stop right there!”
The news was like a bomb that blew everyone up.
No one thought that these two usually quiet and silent people would end up getting together!
Owen was one of them, so since he was with Tara now, even if her surname was Garrett, she was naturally considered one of them as well.
Nell said jokingly, “How sensational! Doctor Jackman, when are you going to invite us to the wedding?”
Owen smiled. His face that was full of decadence some time ago was now radiant as if he was a different person.
“Soon. I’ve already proposed to Tara. Now, all we have to do is decide on a date. If everything goes well, we’ll be able to have the wedding next year.”
Nell was momentarily dumbfounded.
She had just been teasing him by asking that question and did not mean anything from it.
She did not expect Owen to be so honest and answer that he was about to get married.
She did not know what to say but her heart was truly happy for him.
She clapped her hands with a smile. “Well, then I’ll congratulate you in advance.”
Mr. and Mrs. Garrett had been unhappy when they learned that Tara and Owen were together.
Although the Jackman family were influential, they produced doctors for generations and were not close to business and politics. For an ordinary family, they might be regarded as exceptional candidates but they were of no use to the Garrett family, so the Jackmans were naturally not the best choice.
However, when they saw how much Tara liked Owen, no matter how unwilling they were, they had no choice but to agree.
