Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 286

Nell paused and rasped, “I have been polite because you’re Deon’s aunt and you took care of him since he was little.

“However, I’m more of an oddball and I don’t like people meddling in my personal affairs. I’m afraid I’d have to decline if you insist.

“Also, Fengqiao Villa is my home. Please inform me in advance before you come.

“As for those antique vases, I didn’t know they were a gift from you but don’t worry, I merely instructed to have them put away. I can give the vases back to you if you need them. I can guarantee it won’t be a vase less.”

She then notified the people to have the stored vases taken out.

Furious, Jean turned blue in the face.

“Nell Jennings! Don’t play dumb with me! Was I talking about the vases? What I’m saying is that you don’t deserve Gideon!

“You’re just an ignorantly naive woman. Who do you think you are? Sure, Gideon spoils you now, but do you think he’ll dote on you forever?”

“Let me tell you, there’s only one missus in the Leith family and that is...”

“Jean Leith!”

A chilling cry was suddenly heard from the door.

Then came Gideon who was taking large strides in with a long face.

Jean bit her tongue at the sight of Gideon. Doing a 180-degree turn in attitude, her glowering face immediately gave all smiles as she welcomed him in.

“Oh, Gideon, you’re home?”

Gideon frowned deeply.

“What are you doing here?”

Jean bitterly smiled at his unkind face.

“Nothing. I just happened to pass by here today so I came to take a look.”

After a pause, she continued, “Gideon, I wasn’t pleased to see her taking down all those antique vases that I gifted, hence the tone. I don’t have any ill intention but your wife talked as though I want the vases back. It’s really...”

She may not have finished her sentence but the hint behind her words was conveyed.

Basically, Jean thought that Nell was petty and could not be spoken against.

As an elder, Jean had to watch her tongue with her.

Gideon took a glance at her.

“I ordered the vases to be stored.”

Jean was dumbstruck.

Nell opened her mouth, wanting to say something but shut her trap in the end.

Jean regained her composure and smiled awkwardly.

“Oh, I see. I guess it’s a misunderstanding. Hehe... I thought it was Nell who kept them away! You, youngsters, must not like antiques and the sort. If you don’t like them, I can send over other things the next time.”

Gideon bluntly interrupted, “That won’t be necessary.”

He took Nell by the hand.

“Is there anything else? You should get back soon if there isn’t. Nelly and I are tired, so we will hit the sack soon.”

The smile on Jean’s face stiffened once again.

Moments later, she nodded.

“Oh, nothing. I shouldn’t bother your rest if that’s the case. I’ll be leaving now, goodbye.”

She departed crestfallen.

She did not have much of an interest in jewelry but recalled that it was the old madam’s seventieth birthday in another month.

The old madam was not keen on anything in particular, other than collecting a few beautiful jewelry pieces.

It was said that when the old madam was in her younger days, she used to take apprenticeships to study jewelry designing.

It must be a huge event for the auction to be raved about. There should be plenty of rare treasures to be found.

Nell contemplated for a while before enquiring about the address to the jewelry auction from the two actors. She then informed Gideon to obtain two tickets so that she could take a look on the day itself.

Three days later on the scene of the jewelry auction.

Today, Nell had on a black lace dress with a red windbreaker over it and a hat to match. She was dressed pretty low-key.

Meanwhile, Gideon adorned a black suit and as usual, not a hair out of place. The pair took a number tag and took a seat at their designated places.

They were not seated in the front. As Nell did not want to attract attention, she chose the middle seat in the third row.

However, it had never occurred to them that they would catch the sight of a familiar figure approaching the moment they sat down.

“Joel Foster? He’s here too?”

As the descendant to the Fosters, one of the Four Great Clans, Joel was different from the rest of his siblings. He was unconventional and never went by the book. Often known as a ladies man, he was the source of pain to the Foster family’s elders.

Joel had also noticed them. After all, even if Nell wanted to keep a low profile, Gideon’s presence was not one to be missed there.

Others may not recognize him due to rare encounters but Joel had grown up with Gideon and the lot. So, of course, he would recognize them at first glance.

“Brother, sister-in-law!”

Ecstatic, Joel cried out and motioned to make a run over.

Nell erected a finger as she was afraid that the commotion he stirred might arouse attention and pressed it against her lips to shush him.
