Previously, when people found out that Nell played the female lead role, everybody thought she was just a pretty face.
She got this role through closed-door measures as well as pushed her sister out of the limelight. Hence, nobody was interested in interviewing her.
The occurrence on-site proved they had been wrong all along.
Not only was Nell proficient in the performing arts but she also did quite an outstanding job.
Her commanding presence, in particular, brought people back to that era and convinced them that she was the ever-imposing Her Majesty the Empress on high in the flesh, if it were not for the film equipment at the side!
Should such a person make a debut, she would shine in the entertainment world.
Unable to contain their fascination toward Nell, some reporters with foresight raised the microphone and asked, “Miss Nell Jennings, is this really your first time in acting?”
Turning to her, Nell blinked her eyes and nodded. “Yes.”
“Have you received any formal training? Your performance earlier doesn’t seem to come from someone inexperienced.”
Nell smiled. Her beautiful face was without the imposing and aloof bearing from when she was in character.
Faced with countless camera lenses and microphones, a faint bashfulness and uneasiness painted across her cheeks, casting a favorable impression among the crowd.
She softly answered, “No, but prior to joining the shoot, I heard that Director Coombs poured years of hard work into this series. For him to think highly of me, I shouldn’t let him down.
“I made sure to study the script and character beforehand. Perhaps it was due to this that I was able to bring May Saunders to life without a hitch when I act!”
“You mentioned that you put in extra effort because Director Coombs poured years of hard work into this. May I ask if the rumors online about you and Director Coombs are true?”
With the question being put out there, silence entered the room.
Nobody had expected someone would raise a tactless question right there and then.
It was an interview on set today after all. The questions asked had been audited by the studio crew in advance. Only questions pertaining to the shoot were allowed.
Thus, no one would comment if Nell did not want to respond to it.
Nevertheless, Nell faintly smiled and tilted her head as she gazed at the enquirer and replied with a question, “What do you think?”
The person was taken aback by the question being hurled back at her.
She hummed and hawed in response. “How-how would we know!”
Nell chuckled. “You’re curious because you don’t know. I believe others would want to ask the same question too but held back as it isn’t the right place to ask today.
“If that’s the case, let me give you all the answer! It’s false. It’s solely professional and nothing else between me and Director Tim Coombs.”
Her willingness to field the question opened up a can of worms for more gossip.
One of the reporters immediately posed a question. “If it’s false, how do you explain the photographs posted online?”
“There were rumors that something is going on between you and Tim Coombs and a picture of you two hugging in the restaurant corridor proves it. A photo of you sneaking into his room late into the night was also captured. Can you offer an explanation?”
“Although your acting speaks for itself, no one had the chance to witness your capability before you officially took part in this drama. How did you convince Tim Coombs to choose you as the female lead?
“...”
The endless questions came onto her like a tidal wave.
“If that’s not enough, photographs of me entering the director’s room were spread on the web and used against us. I’m really curious about who is working behind the scenes in setting me up.
“I’m only a measly actress who just entered the line of work. I don’t believe I’ve been in other people’s way or offended anyone.
“Yet, the one who plotted this is out to get me and ruin me. If anyone has any information, please let me know. I’d be eternally grateful.”
An uproar stirred within the crowd.
Who would have thought there would be a twist?
Someone immediately followed up with a question. “You said someone had drugged you. Do you have proof?”
Raising a brow, Nell looked at the person who raised the question. “Of course, I do.”
With that, she whipped up a piece of paper from her pocket and flashed it in front of everyone.
“Take a good look. This is an analysis report. The substance verified is the food and drinks Director Coombs and I consumed last night. It’s written clearly here that it contains traces of chloroform.”
Right away, the reporters lifted their cameras to capture the analysis report.
Without moving a muscle, Nell gave free rein to the press to take pictures and waited until they were done before putting away the report.
“I have reasons to suspect someone on this set carries malicious intent toward me. This person is out to destroy my reputation and future through Director Coombs.
“As for who is the mastermind, I have already called the cops. I trust that justice will be served. You can follow up on this if you’re interested. I have no objections.”
Nell then summoned Nancy to escort her out, thus ending the interview.
