Nell knew the girl.
She was one of Celine’s assistants, known as Kylie.
The girl was very young and looked to be about seventeen or eighteen years of age. Most of the time, she accompanied Celine from behind and did her bidding obediently. Hence, she rarely attracted attention.
Nell noticed her because of a past incident. Back then, when she went to the film set to look for her fellow artiste, she saw Celine berating the girl.
The girl had probably spilled water on Celine’s dress by accident while serving drinks. Celine then gave her a tight slap.
The young lady felt really upset. She had held back her tears and covered her face, refusing to say a word.
That time, Nell felt bad for the girl. However, it was not her business and neither was she a saint. Moreover, she did not have the habit of interfering with other people’s affairs, so she did not intervene.
Nonetheless, this incident left an impression on Nell of the girl.
Nell remained silent and nodded slightly as a greeting. Kylie was aware of the former’s relationship with Celine, hence she was a bit embarrassed.
However, seeing as she seemed kind and well-intentioned, she let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Half a minute had passed before Celine strolled towards the elevator.
When she saw the two people inside the elevator, she was initially surprised and even taken aback. Next, she smiled warmly.
“Sis, it’s you. Are you going to the restaurant?”
Nell glanced at her without offering a reply.
It was evident that she was ignoring her.
George had no idea what happened between them and he dared not ask. Out of courtesy for his seniors, he quickly greeted Celine.
Celine nodded at him and both Kylie and she stepped inside the elevator. Kylie stood behind her and the atmosphere went silent.
The film crew had booked the twelfth and thirteenth floor. In between, the elevator stopped on two floors. After a while, they reached the lobby.
When they arrived at the lobby, they encountered another two male actors from the same crew waiting there. Perhaps due to the awkward atmosphere earlier, George said goodbye to the women and went ahead with the male actors.
As a result, apart from the meek, quiet Kylie, only Nell and Celine were left in the group.
The restaurant was not far from the hotel. It was about seven to eight hundred meters away and took approximately ten minutes to walk there.
Nell walked calmly. Celine looked at her and suddenly said, “Sis, do you know why those reporters from this afternoon interviewed me instead of you?”
She kept quiet, whereas Celine mocked her.
“Because everyone knows that I’m the real star of the show, even though you are the lead. So what if you steal the limelight from me?”
“Those people will only treat you like an insignificant newbie. It’s because of my fame that they showed some interest in you and gave you something to talk about.”
“If not for me, it doesn’t matter if you’re the lead. No one cares about you. You’re no different from those lowly extras.”
Nell stopped dead in her tracks.
She gave Celine a sideways look, her expression inscrutable.
“Oh, really?”
“Of course. The truth lies in front of you.”
Nell laughed.
It was a slow laugh, bearing a certain coldness and ridicule.
“A long time ago, I heard that there were certain kinds of people who were capable of pursuing fame and opportunities relentlessly and enjoyed doing so, like how flies swarm around filth. I’ve always assumed that flies who took to the filth were revolting, but I’ve never expected the opportunistic one to be so full of herself. It is truly an eye-opener.”
Celine was stunned. When she understood what her elder sister meant, she got furious.
“You!”
“Congratulations, Director Coombs. If we finish shooting this show, your wish will be fulfilled.”
Tim nodded and chuckled. “It’s all thanks to you. If I hadn’t met you, I wouldn’t have made such a swift decision.”
Nell raised an eyebrow and curved her lips. “Honestly, I was really surprised that you would pick me. I’m a newcomer who has never acted in a show before. Since this show is so important to you, aren’t you worried that I’ll ruin your reputation?”
Unexpectedly, Tim’s expression hardened and he shook his head seriously.
“Impossible, I trust what I see. You’re born for this job and nothing will go wrong.”
Nell was astonished and froze.
It was her second time hearing this remark. The first person who said it was Gareth.
Soon, she regained her composure and smiled.
“Director Coombs, you’re too kind.”
“No, I mean it.”
While Tim was talking, he suddenly tripped over himself and fell forward.
Nell was shocked and grabbed hold of him quickly.
Tim also managed to support himself on the wall with one hand, so he did not fall down.
He grinned sheepishly. “I was happy and had a bit too much to drink. Sorry for embarrassing myself.”
Nell let out a sigh of relief. She withdrew her hand and shook her head in an amused manner.
“No worries, but we need to get to work tomorrow. Do take care, Director Coombs.”
Tim nodded. Following that, they returned to the private dining room without saying another word.
