After that, she put on a monkey mask and grimaced at him.
Nell’s words warmed Gideon’s heart. After some thoughts, he nodded. “You’re right. It’s good to be able to buy a blessing.”
Nell took the mask off and smiled brightly at him. She pinched his cheek and said, “That’s more like it!”
Gideon’s face turned stiff. It was the first time someone had pinched his face so it felt weird.
Nell was not overly concerned. She put down the monkey mask and put on a Pigsy mask.
She turned around to Gideon and said, “Hey fellow goddess, how does Pigsy look?”
Gideon burst into laughter when Nell teased him. He said with a twitching face, “UGLY!”
“My beautiful goddess, please follow me back to Gao Manor!” Nell went up and caught his hand.
Gideon knocked her head and blurted, “Who are you calling a beautiful goddess?”
“You, of course! Look into the mirror. Aren’t you as beautiful as a goddess?”
“You’re supposed to describe a woman with that!”
“There are barely any women in this world who are more beautiful than you.”
Gideon was speechless. He did not know whether to laugh or cry. Would it still be a praise if she praised a man for being more beautiful than most of the women out there?
Nell took off the Pigsy mask and showed it to the stall owner. “How much is this? I’m taking it.”
“What are you buying this for?”
“For fun!” Nell smiled and paid for the mask. She received another wrapped Pigsy mask from the owner, took it out, and put it on again, fooling around like a child.
Gideon followed tightly behind her. He believed that the woman before his eyes had never been so lively before, even livelier than the one at Jincheng.
He used to prepare all the best things for her. Women loved jewelry, cosmetics, clothes, and bags. Every item he gave her was custom made by famous designers yet she had never been this happy.
She bought a pair of poorly made silver rings from a night market stall and looked like she found treasure.
He had a feeling that this woman was even cuter than he had imagined. It made him want to protect, love, and cherish her more.
It was not for the glamorous clothes and jewelry but only for the lover.
The two of them walked the night market for quite a while. In the end, Nell got tired and the two of them went home.
The difference in temperature during the day and night in the little town was huge. When they were on their way back, Nell felt cold.
Gideon took off his coat and put it on her shoulders. They walked past the restaurant which they had lunch earlier and since they were both hungry, they decided to have supper before heading home.
However, when they arrived at the entrance, they saw the owner and his wife cleaning the tables and chairs. It looked like they were preparing to close.
“Huh? You guys are done walking?” Susan put her broom aside and walked to them.
Slightly embarrassed, Nell nodded. “Yeah. Are you guys closing?”
“Yeah, it’s almost 11:00 p.m. now, we’re closing. Are you two looking for something to eat?”
Nell nodded.
“I see. I can’t do anything either as we’ve run out of ingredients for the day and we’ll only restock the ingredients tomorrow morning. I have some bread and yogurt here. I bought them this afternoon. If you don’t mind, take it!”
Susan then went to the refrigerator to get the bread and yogurt but Nell shook her hands.
“It’s okay! You guys are doing business here. How can I take your things for free?”
Gideon noticed the situation. He simply fished out some money and wanted to pay for the bread and yogurt.
Nell dared not step on the stingy man’s tail so she smiled and flattered him. “I’m grateful to be with you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, I really do.”
Gideon slightly frowned.
The woman was trying to flatter him but the words sounded strange in his ears.
Nell was not that dumb to explain what she meant. Before he even reacted, she carried the bread and walked ahead.
After a good night's sleep, Nell and Gideon asked around for the local morning market on the second day and decided to buy some groceries.
After all, the reason they came to a rural town was to experience the life of a commoner.
Therefore, Nell requested that they cook their meals.
Even though she did not know how, ever since she saw her man’s cooking skills, she tasked Gideon with the important responsibility.
Gideon did not reject the responsibility so he got changed and went out with her. The two of them went to a nearby morning market.
Not only could Nell not cook but she was also an amateur in buying stuff in the market.
Gideon knew how to differentiate the good from the bad but he was too arrogant to lower himself to select the good ones or bargain with the stall owner. He would take whatever he liked no matter how expensive it was and he would not take something that he did not like no matter how cheap it was.
He was quick and resolute in his purchase and it made all the housewives stealing glances at him.
A handsome guy and a beautiful lady walking the morning market was something eye-catching to begin with.
Even though many tourists came to the town just to visit their markets and enjoy the rural lifestyle, they had never seen a pair this handsome and beautiful. They became the topic of discussion for many people.
After walking for half an hour, the two of them got what they needed to prepare lunch.
On the way back, Nell ridiculed. “Did you see those aunties and housewives back there? Their eyes on you are like wolves staring at a delicious prey. Any slower and you might end up in their stomach.”
