Next to Nell, Lucy’s expression also changed when she saw Joel Foster.
Nell noticed her face and whispered, “Do you know him?”
Lucy's expression was a little complicated and finally nodded her head.
Nell did not think much of it. After all, this circle was neither big nor small, so it was possible that they had met before in the past.
Joel soon saw them and immediately pushed aside the crowd to rush towards them as if seeing his saviors.
“Sister-in-law!”
Nell paled and hurriedly tugged on Lucy’s arm. “Let’s go, hurry!”
The two hurried away. However, since they were wearing high heels, how would they be able to escape from Joel?
Soon, they were caught.
Joel panted as he said, “What's up with you two? Didn’t you hear me call you? You kept walking away!”
Nell and Lucy both turned around with stiff smiles.
“Young Master Foster, is there something you need?”
Joel was stunned and gave them an unhappy look.
“What’s that supposed to mean? We’re all friends here. Why do you look like you’ve seen a ghost? It feels like you two are deliberately avoiding me.”
Nell silently cursed in her heart. ‘If we don’t avoid you, we’ll get into trouble later.’
Sure enough, she had not finished cursing when the group of women caught up to them.
“Hey, Young Master Foster, who are these two? Why don’t you introduce them to us?”
The woman who spoke wore a purple dress that revealed her devilishly curvy figure, causing Nell and Lucy to blush slightly.
“Hehe, they’re…”
Joel was just about to introduce them when Nell glared viciously at him, and he quickly changed his words.
“These two are my friends. This is Nell Jennings, and Lucy Katz. You should get to know each other!”
The woman looked them up and down with her arms folded.
Her eyes were full of caution and a hint of contempt.
“So you’re Lucy Katz? Well, I’ve heard of you before, but…”
Her eyes sized up Lucy and she scoffed. “A newcomer, right?”
Lucy nodded politely and extended her hand towards her. “Hello, senior Crystal. I’m Lucy Katz. Please take care of me in the future.”
Nell then realized that the woman in front of them was Crystal Roberts.
She was ashamed. With the nature of her work, she should have known the male and female stars in the entertainment industry like the back of her hand.
However, there was a limit to her energy, and newcomers in the circle popped up one after another with no way of stopping, so it was impossible to pay attention to all of them.
Nevertheless, she had heard of Crystal Roberts before, but she had never actually met her.
Her reputation was okay, sort of between a first and second-tier little flower.
She acted in quite a few plays and her acting skills were alright, but there was no masterpiece that could be picked out.
She had some tricks up her sleeves, but perhaps because of bad luck or something else, she never really managed to get anything good.
Someone next to her immediately spoke up.
“Huh? Aren’t you the second girl in ‘Sound of the Wind’? Crystal, did you forget already?”
The person who spoke was Holly Hughes, who was also an actress.
However, her fame was far inferior when compared to Crystal Roberts, and she could only be regarded as a third or fourth-tier artist, so she loved to befriend artists who were more popular than herself.
At this moment, she nudged Crystal’s arm and shot her a look. The hint was obvious.
Sure enough, Crystal’s face immediately looked unhappy.
“So that was you?”
That was why, in a moment of anger, she was not able to hold back her sarcastic words.
She even forgot that Joel was beside her.
She quickly lowered her head and whispered, “I’m sorry, Young Master Foster. I didn’t mean it.”
Joel had no intention to nag the group of women. He had originally caught Nell and Lucy for an excuse to slip away.
Thus, he simply said with a cold face. “If there’s a next time, then don’t bother coming to this kind of event again in the future.”
Then, he said to Nell and Lucy, “Let’s go over there.”
Seeing the three people leave, Crystal’s fingertips trembled with anger.
Behind her, Holly stepped forward and muttered in a dissatisfied voice. “Sister Crystal, what’s the relationship between Lucy Katz and Young Master Foster? Why does it feel like he’s defending her?”
Another woman said, “What else could it be? In this circle, how else would someone with no background suddenly get such an important role? If you ask me, I’m 80% sure she seduced Young Master Foster. Didn’t you see how he looked at her differently than he looked at everyone else?”
“That’s impossible! Young Master Foster has such high standards. How could he be interested in her? Isn’t she just a country bumpkin?”
“It’s because she is a country bumpkin that she’s more willing to go all out! Luna, you wouldn’t understand that!”
“It seems like all the stories about Cinderellas being encouraged to become princesses are lies! Hah! It’s all about using unsightly tactics.”
“Enough!”
Crystal finally could not hold back and shouted in a low voice.
Everyone immediately stopped talking.
Although Crystal was only a little flower who was slightly better than second-tier, she was the biggest and most influential out of the group of people.
She stared at the direction of Joel’s departure and gritted her teeth. “Isn’t she just a newcomer who thinks she can rise to the top by climbing into Young Master Foster’s bed? Hah! How ridiculous!”
“Sister Crystal, since she dared to butt heads with you today, why don’t you teach her a lesson?”
“Yeah, how can you just let her off like this? Don’t we have to respect seniority in this circle?”
