Bennett turned the steering wheel and said casually.
"Who says Karina has no leverage? A child is the biggest bargaining chip there is. Noah is soft-hearted and has a strong sense of responsibility. If she used that chip well, it wouldn't be so easy for Cynthia to take her place. Unfortunately, Karina's not too bright up here."
Yvonne said, tapping her head.
Bennett couldn't help but laugh. "It's a good thing Cynthia's opponent isn't you. Otherwise, you two would turn the main branch of the Thompson family completely upside down."
Yvonne replied, "I would never be an opponent to another woman. Competing with another woman is the ultimate sign of weakness. Besides, the man who causes such rivalry is even more despicable. If a man hasn't moved on from his past, he has no business messing with an innocent woman's life."
Hearing that, Bennett could only nod in agreement, not daring to argue. As a man himself, he wasn't about to defend Noah and risk Yvonne lumping him into the same category.
Bennett drove them back to Cherry Bay.
When they arrived at the apartment, Helen and Bullet were gone.
Apart from cleaning and cooking, Helen spent the rest of her time with Bullet next door, making sure never to disturb Bennett and Yvonne's private time together.
Yvonne kicked off her shoes and walked barefoot across the floor.
"I'm so tired. My face is stiff from smiling all day. Being a Thompson daughter-in-law is no easy job," Yvonne sighed.
"If you don't like it, you don't have to go to those events in the future. There's no one Mrs. Thompson is obligated to entertain," Bennett said, walking over and gently ruffling her hair. "I'll go run you a bath. A nice soak will make you feel better."
"Mmm," Yvonne hummed lazily, her head resting on the back of the sofa.
Bennett went to the bathroom to run the bath. After checking the water temperature, he carried Yvonne into the bathroom.
Yvonne stood in front of the tub, about to undress, when she turned and saw Bennett leaning against the counter, showing no intention of leaving.
