Chapter 762
Chapter 762
Vicki hesitated, wondering if she should say hello, when Eddie’s gaze landed on her.
She had no choice but to wave. “Cameron, have you been sitting in the car this whole time?”
Eddie shook his head. “No, I just parked here.”
Vicki nodded. “Okay. I’m heading back to the hotel.”
Eddie nodded. “Alright.”
Vicki turned and walked away.
Eddie watched her through the rearview mirror as she walked farther and farther away, until she finally disappeared, but his gaze lingered.
‘There’s no way,‘ he thought to himself. ‘So, there’s nothing left to look forward to either!
Tomorrow, he’d return to Steerfall and go on living the same lifeless routine as always.
Eddie started the car and pulled into the hotel’s underground parking lot.
He’d been sitting in the car all afternoon, and after being a groomsman earlier, he hadn’t really eaten anything all day.

Once he’d parked, he planned to grab something to eat at the hotel’s second–floor restaurant.
It was a holiday, so the hotel restaurant was packed. Dinner was a seafood buffet.
After searching for a while, Eddie finally spotted an empty seat and headed over with his plate. He was just about to ask if it was free when he
heard Vicki’s voice.
“Eddie? You’re here for dinner too?” Vicki asked, sounding a little surprised.
Eddie paused for a moment, still holding his plate, and looked around the crowded room. There really weren’t any other seats left.
“Eddie, go ahead and sit down. It’s crazy busy today,” Vicki said.
Vicki could feel just how distant Eddie was acting toward her this time.
She remembered how warm Eddie used to be to her when they were in Regalburg. She couldn’t help
but
feel a
bit uncomfortable about it.
But she’d been the one trying to keep her distance from Eddie anyway, so she really didn’t get why she
was feeling this way now.
In the end, Eddie set his plate down. After all, there was no way he could just stand there and eat.
They were at a small table for two.
Vicki didn’t have much of an appetite and only took a few dishes.
After setting his plate down, Eddie went back for a few more things. He turned to Vicki and asked politely, “Ms. Shaw, is there anything you want to eat? I can get it for you.”
Vicki shook her head. “No, thanks.”
Eddie sat back down. The two of them ate in silence.

Chapter 762
In the bustling restaurant, their silence made them seem out of place, as if they were isolated from the lively crowd around them
Eddie usually ate quickly and gracefully, but tonight, he made a point of taking his time. He never lifted his gaze to look at Vicki directly is kept watching her from the corner of his eye.
So when Vicki accidentally bit into something spicy and started looking around for water, he immediately slid his untouched glass of watermelon juice toward her.
Vicki took it and quickly took a few sips to cool the burn in her mouth. Only then did she finally look at Eddie with gratitude. “Thanks, Eddie
“No problem,” Eddie said flatly. He didn’t even bother
to look up at her.
Vicki bit her straw, glancing at Eddie’s distant look, feeling a bit puzzled.
