Chapter 529
Cameron crossed her arms, meeting Amelia’s stunned gaze with a wry smile. “Yes. I’m a girl”
Receiving that confirmation, Amelia was dumbfounded. The ID card trembled in her grip as she stared at Cameron. Minutes passed before she finally managed to speak, “So you’re… a girl?” Even after seeing the proof, her voice cracked with disbelief.
Amelia thought, ‘My fiancé was a girl all along? Eighteen years of deception? And now I’ve even fallen for her?
Amelia’s mind was a total mess.
Cameron retrieved her ID card and slipped it into her pocket. “Now that we’ve cleared that up, I assume this ends any romantic notions. See you.”
“Wait!” Amelia’s sharp command froze Cameron.
Cameron turned back. “What else?”
Amelia’s expression darkened. “You and your family deceived mine for 18 years. You think I’ll just accept that?”
The initial shock had crystallized into fury. For years, the arranged marriage with Cameron had been a thorn in her side. Amelia had made countless efforts to break the engagement. But in the end, she discovered that the entire foundation was a lie.
And yes, after learning Cameron was a girl, she had truly regretted calling it off. But that didn’t erase the fact that the Wallace family had deceived her for 18 years.
Cameron gazed at her. “Have you ever considered that I was a victim too?”
Amelia froze upon hearing this. She thought, ‘Cameron is one month younger than me. So, did the Wallace family force her to pretend to be a boy from birth for that ridiculous childhood engagement pact? That’s insane.’
The moment that thought hit her, Amelia’s anger shifted into sympathy. She thought, ‘Yes, we’re both victims. Cameron had it even worse. How could blame her for any of this?‘
Amelia frowned, “You’re a victim too, Cameron, but your parents-” They had to pay for their deception.
“Hold on,” Cameron interrupted her. “They weren’t my real parents. I was kidnapped. They’re already in custody.”
Amelia’s jaw dropped. She was dumbfounded.
Without another word, Cameron walked away, leaving Amelia reeling from the bombshell revelations.
After learning too much stunning information, Amelia needed time to process it all.
Rounding the corner, Cameron spotted Bradley and the others. They were all waiting for her.
Just as Cameron approached, her phone vibrated. It was William.
William’s enthusiastic voice boomed through the receiver. “Cameron, tonight’s victory banquet details are coming to your-”
“Mr. Drake,” Cameron cut in politely. “I already have prior commitments.”
William paused, clearly surprised. “What? Who?”
