Lizetta looked at him and shot him a playful glare.
"If you want to smile, just smile! Why are you holding it in?"
Remington fell silent.
Was it really that obvious?
He turned his attention back to Nelson. "Thank you, Grandpa."
Nelson scoffed, a knowing, meaningful smile on his face.
The moment Remington had insisted on Nelson choosing the name, the old man knew exactly what the younger man was plotting.
If the Dashiell family had chosen the name, how could they possibly insist the child take their surname right away?
Pushing the responsibility onto the Madden family was a brilliant move. It showed immense respect while forcing them to carefully weigh the issue of the child's surname themselves.
And Remington was perfectly aware of the guilt and considerations weighing on Nelson's heart.
Offering such goodwill was designed to corner Nelson into making a concession.
This brat had probably calculated from the very beginning that Nelson would allow Joy to carry the Dashiell surname.
Seeing Remington's poorly concealed look of triumph, Nelson genuinely wanted to kick him right out the door.
He snorted, trying to hold his tongue, but ultimately couldn't resist.
"The next child, whether it's a boy or a girl, will absolutely take their mother's last name!"
How could Remington possibly disagree?
Nelson saying this meant he had already given his full blessing for him and Lizetta to remarry, and he was even actively encouraging them to have a second child!
Whether or not they actually had another baby was a matter for the future, but the old man's absolute approval meant everything.
Remington nodded without a second of hesitation.
"Of course, Grandpa."
Nelson then turned a bright look toward Lizetta. "Lizetta, it would be best if your next pregnancy was twins."
That way, the Madden family would instantly gain two more adorable little additions.
