There were still lingering traces of drugs in Joy's system, and after playing for a bit, the little guy's eyes watered as he began to yawn.
Nelson's heart ached for the baby, and he gently advised Lizetta.
"Joy just got home, and he's definitely been through a massive scare. Just stay there and take good care of him. Don't rush back to Tranquil Meadows. Your grandma and I are perfectly fine here, and Jerome is handling things. You just stay in Zion City. Once we wrap up the situation here in a couple of days, we'll come visit you two."
Lizetta held Joy, gently rocking the baby as she nodded at Nelson.
"Okay. Take care of yourself and Grandma. As for the police station, let Jerome handle the loose ends. I'm staying entirely out of it."
She was, of course, referring to Eartha.
Hearing this, Jerome leaned in slightly, his handsome, gentle face appearing on the screen as he smiled.
"Don't worry. Just make sure you teach Joy how to say my name. I'm waiting for him to call me Jerome."
Lizetta's lips curled up. "Alright, alright. But his very first word has to be Mommy!"
"Fair enough, nobody is fighting you on that," Jerome chuckled.
Lizetta was just about to say goodbye to Nelson and hang up when the old man suddenly spoke up.
"I heard Remington got hurt?"
Lizetta blinked, completely surprised that Nelson would suddenly ask about Remington.
She instinctively glanced at the man sitting beside her, silently serving them by holding the phone.
Nelson seemed to have known all along that Remington was the one holding the phone and let out a dry chuckle.
"What are you doing hiding behind the camera the whole time?"
Lizetta wasn't oblivious; she could tell that Nelson's attitude toward Remington had completely shifted.
