Remington spoke smoothly. "It isn't on the market yet, but it's already in Phase 3 clinical trials. The efficacy outshines any existing medication by a mile. If Phase 3 goes well, I'll secure the first batch to be sent over for Grandma."
Liz looked at him in astonishment. "How do you have access to an unreleased drug..."
Before she finished her sentence, realization dawned on her. "Are you the one who funded the research and development?"
Remington gave a subtle nod. Liz's eyes shimmered with emotion.
"When did you do that? Why didn't you tell me?"
"Last year, about a month after you moved back to Tranquil Meadows. I stumbled upon the medical breakthrough by chance and decided to invest. It wasn't entirely for anyone specific, so there was no need to bring it up."
He leaned casually against the counter, lazily whisking the egg wash, his tone utterly indifferent as if dropping millions of dollars was barely worth mentioning.
But Liz's heart fluttered. She knew exactly what he was doing. He had deliberately kept a close watch on the medical field and funded it specifically for her grandmother.
Stepping forward, she wrapped her arms around his lean waist, stood on her tiptoes, and pressed a soft kiss to his lips.
"Thank you."
"Between us, 'thank you' sounds too formal. I don't want to hear it. Try a different phrase."
Remington gazed down at her, offering a sly hint.
"Say, something with three words."
Liz hid a smile, feigning ignorance.
"Three words? Like what?"
His dark eyes gleamed dangerously, and he let out a low click of his tongue.
Liz poked his waist playfully. "Tell me, and maybe I'll say it for you."
Her voice was sweet, dripping with intentional coquettishness.
Remington's breathing deepened. He caught her mischievous hand at his waist, his voice dropping into a velvety purr as he obliged.
