She was certain her grandfather knew exactly what was going on, or at least had heard their commotion.
On the verge of actual tears, she threw her arms around his neck, lifting herself slightly to sob a desperate plea into his ear.
"Remington, please let me go. I'll... I'll sneak out tonight to find you, alright?"
Remington's breath hitched. Finally intrigued, he lifted his busy mouth from her soft skin, fixing his dark, predatory gaze on her.
"You'll really sneak out to see me?"
Lizetta nodded frantically, terrified that Nelson would burst through the door at any second.
She felt a looming dread of being caught red-handed in bed.
"You know I'm staying at a hotel, right?"
Panicking out of her mind, she nodded without even fully registering his words.
Of course she knew. She had helped him book it herself, picking the closest five-star hotel to the Madden estate, The Belmont Grand.
"And then?" Remington asked, his voice husky.
"And then what?" Lizetta was entirely lost, failing to keep up with his train of thought.
He chuckled softly. "Playing dumb with me again, are we?"
Noticing his meaningful expression and acutely aware that his physical threat hadn't subsided in the slightest, she blushed deeply and shoved at his chest.
"Shouldn't I be asking you what happens then?"
His thin lips curled into a wicked smile.
"Then it means whatever I say goes. You do exactly as I want, hmm?"
Lizetta was on the edge of a breakdown. Her only desire was for him to leave before he alerted her grandfather again.
She didn't want him to ruin whatever tiny shred of goodwill he had just managed to scrape together with the old man.
"Yes, yes, whatever. Just go, quickly."
She nodded in agreement, completely oblivious to the terrifying promise she had just made.
A bright glint of amusement shone in his eyes as a knowing smirk settled on his lips.
