Chapter 3818
Serenity admired her grandmother-in-law’s way of raising children and grandchildren. Zachary came from a generation of nine brothers. If she and Zachary didn’t have a daughter, she was hopeful one of the others would break the pattern.
A fortune-teller her grandmother consulted had predicted that she and Zachary would have both sons and daughters, but Serenity didn’t want to fully believe it until it came true.
Kiera laughed and said, “The more people there are, the higher the chance! But it’s always more special to have your own daughter, to spoil her.” “You’re right,” Serenity said, smiling softly. “I just don’t know if Zachary and I are meant for that.”
“With modern science, there are ways,” Kiera suggested, but then quickly added, “Although… if your family is strictly traditional, interfering might not be worth the pain.”
She worried the York family’s strong lineage might prove unchangeable, and artificial measures could lead to more heartbreak if they failed to raise a daughter.
Even after Duncan’s accident and fears of being a burden to Liberty, his parents had eventually accepted their relationship. Liberty had taken care of him, and despite their struggles, the couple had emerged stronger.
Now, Serenity was hopeful that her sister and Duncan would continue to face life’s challenges together, just as she and Zachary aimed to do.
