Half an hour later, Audrey and Serenity left the Stones’ residence to head to where they agreed to meet Corey. Both Derek and Corey came and arrived first. They waited for just a few minutes before Audrey and Serenity arrived too.
“Audrey.” When Corey spotted Audrey leading Serenity over to them, she got up to greet them with a smile.
“Sorry, we’ve made you wait, Corey.”
Serenity greeted Corey politely too.
Corey laughed it off. “We just arrived and sat down ourselves. You guys got here before we could even have a sip of water, so we really didn’t wait long.”
Then, she took Serenity’s hand in a genial manner and asked about how Serenity had been recently. She even looked at Serenity’s stomach and chuckled, “It really is hard to tell that you’re pregnant while you’re wearing a coat.”
“Yeah, my belly isn’t showing much.” Serenity rubbed her stomach. Then, she took Corey’s arm and walked her back to Derek with Audrey. Derek stood up to say hi with a smile too.
After they all sat down, Corey ordered some drinks and snacks for the table and proceeded to enthusiastically praise Audrey for taking good care of herself, saying that she looked younger and more beautiful than ever.
Audrey happily replied, “I don’t have to worry about anything now. All I have to do is enjoy my retirement and play with my grandson. If I’m in the mood for it, I’ll get a facial done to take care of my looks and stay in good shape. But you know, I am getting on in years, I can’t stop aging even if I wanted to.”
Audrey spoke first. “I asked you to meet me today to discuss Duncan and Liberty’s future.”
Corey knew Liberty’s purpose in going to Jensburg, but without the proof that Belinda murdered Tiara for the position, Belinda would remain the head of the family even if Liberty was Tiara’s descendant. Who would easily give up the position they had been in for decades?
Besides, Belinda had a daughter of her own too, who would definitely be her first choice of successor. It was possible Liberty would not be able to take over the Fisher family. Of course, Corey supported Liberty’s hard work to establish and expand her company in Jensburg, as well as her son’s considerable investment in it.
After all, if Liberty grew more outstanding, she would become a better match for Duncan, and when the two married in the future, others would only mention how strong of a suitor she was and would stop calling Liberty a gold-digger.
