Sonny still wanted to play.
“Seren, I’ll read him a story.”
Tania was worried Serenity would tire herself. Before Serenity could say a word, she took a storybook from the bedside shelf and was about to start reading.
Serenity did not reject her mother-in-law’s offer.
She scooted over and said, “I’ll check on the luggage Sonny packed himself.”
That was in case Sonny left anything out.
While Tania read Sonny a story, Serenity checked the items in his luggage.
Sonny had packed a set of thick pajamas. Through the adults’ conversations, he knew that Jensburg was cold. It would even snow heavily sometimes.
Therefore, he took the thickest pajamas he had.
Next, he packed two days’ worth of clothes and brought a thick jacket, a hat, a scarf, gloves, and some daily necessities.
Aside from that, he also stuffed two of his favorite toys and snacks into the luggage.
After checking Sonny’s luggage, Serenity opened his closet and added two more sweaters. It was filled to the brim.
“Did I take everything, Aunt Ser?” Sonny sat up and asked Serenity.
Serenity praised him, “Everything is inside. You did well.”
As expected of the nephew she had raised.
Tania nudged Sonny back onto the bed and said, “Sleep, Sonny. Close your eyes and stop sitting up.”
Sonny stuck out his tongue and said sweetly, “Grandma Tania, give me a good night's kiss so I can have a good dream.”
“Okay.”
After all, he was a child.
No matter how much energy he had, he was only three years old.
Once in bed, he would fall asleep with little coaxing needed.
Sometimes, Sonny would open his eyes to check if an adult was around. Only then would he fall asleep in peace.
“I’ll go wash up then.”
Serenity yawned.
She was tired.
Tania had told her to rest and not stay up to wait for Zachary.
Zachary was swarmed with work. While he would try to be home by half-past ten every night, he had no choice but to be back only at midnight whenever there was too much work.
