Hugh knew that Caroline had her own business.
It was no wonder that Hayden had such an appreciation for Caroline. She might not have had a good childhood in her adoptive parents’ home, but she grew tenaciously like a blade of grass. At a young age, she had made a place for herself in the business world with just her brain and guts.
She was an impressive businesswoman.
He could not blame Hayden for constantly trying to set them up.
Even now, he suspected that she had not given up on the idea yet.
Because of Liberty’s appearance, it was now hard to predict who would succeed the matriarchy.
If Caroline withdrew from the race, she could marry freely without having to look for someone willing to marry into her family.
This was exactly what Hayden had thought of. Thus, the idea she had originally given up on sprang back to life and she started creating opportunities for Hugh and Caroline to meet.
“Got it. And sis, you know Caroline has someone by her side, right?” Hugh said meaningfully.
He wanted Hayden to give up trying to set him and Caroline up.
He could appreciate Caroline as a person but simply did not feel any attraction to her.
Besides, Caroline had Darren, her super capable protector, by her side.
Hayden looked at her brother and asked in return, “What does that have to do with you? I never said anything about that, so how did that come up? Is it because you have a bit of a crush on her, so that immediately came to mind when I mentioned her?”
Hugh was exasperated. “No, absolutely not!”
Hayden wore a disbelieving expression which made Hugh feel like he had jumped straight into her trap.
“I really don’t like Caroline. Well, it’s not that I don’t like her per se, I just purely appreciate her as a person, but I appreciate lots of girls.”
He had been waiting for her at the entrance.
“Did you manage to reach an agreement, Ms. Caroline?” Darren asked in concern.
Caroline shook her head and said, “Hayden doesn’t think much of Fisher Enterprise. I might have a bit more of an in with her, but work is work and our friendship remains personal. I don’t think we’re going to get the offer.”
Darren comforted, “It’s fine if we don’t. It’s not like we’re relying completely on Queen Enterprise’s project to survive. Madam Fisher has asked you to go to the hospital. I’ll come with you.”
Caroline did not refuse him and instead said, “Alright. Let’s head to the hospital together.”
He was the person she trusted the most. At least she would have a companion to go with her to the hospital.
If her biological father made things difficult for her, Darren would be there to help.
Darren returned to his car while Caroline started hers. Soon, the two cars left Queen Enterprise one after another and blended with the traffic outside.
