“Don’t worry. I’m an experienced driver. Get ready. We can go to the banquet once I arrive.”
Hayden said, “I’ll wait for you at home then.”
“Okay. See you later.”
Since Hayden said he could find out why she rested for half a day when he arrived, Kevin did not ask further.
He had to head to Queen Manor first.
After ending the call, Hayden was about to put the phone down when she saw her mother sitting opposite her. She withdrew her hand and pretended to message Kevin.
“Stop acting.”
Sophia stood up and took Hayden’s phone away. She placed it on the coffee table.
“I can’t leave my phone, Mom. There’ll be people looking for me to talk about work.”
Hayden wanted to use the phone as an excuse.
Sophia replied, “Didn’t you hand over everything to Hugh? Let him handle it. He doesn’t have to attend the banquet tonight anyway.
“He’s not much younger than you, just by ten minutes. He’s a man, and he should bear the heavier responsibility.”
Hayden smiled. “That’s such old-fashioned thinking, Mom.”
“It may be old-fashioned to others, but in our family, it means that you can take it easier while Hugh works harder.”
Sophia sat beside her daughter.
Hayden did not want to enter a debate with her mother. She said, “Okay, okay. My mom is the prettiest. Everything you say is right.”
Hayden’s face fell. “I guess I should continue being Mr. Queen then. Being Ms. Queen is difficult. Wearing a dress is inconvenient too. I can’t even walk quickly in it because it restrains my steps.”
Sophia was rendered speechless.
She had the urge to slap her daughter but held it in.
However, if it were Hugh, she would have slapped him right away.
“I can wear women’s clothes when I’m alone with Kevin in the future. He won’t request me to wear high heels. He would tell me to wear whatever makes me comfortable because he can tolerate everything about me.
“He also mentioned that we don’t have to care about creating more gossip because we’re already the hot topic of the city.”
Sophia had no words.
