After walking a few steps, Hugh turned around to look.
It had been a while since Hugh last saw Caroline. Now, seeing her, he found her more attractive than before. There was a change in her aura—she seemed more confident, more astute, and capable.
He thought he might be seeing things.
Hence his momentary pause.
Hugh almost did not recognize Caroline when he saw her.
“If she were like this from the beginning, my brother might have set us up, and I might not have refused,” Hugh muttered to himself.
However, even though Hugh could start liking Caroline now, he did not want to. He disliked the Fisher family.
Caroline was a product of the Fisher family, but her upbringing away from them had toughened her up, making her resilient.
Caroline was pretending to be someone she was not.
Hugh preferred simpler girls and kept his distance from those who acted or deceived as Caroline did.
Such girls suited Hayden. If they were a pair, the world would be in trouble.
Fortunately, Hugh did not have a brother but a sister.
People from Jensburg should be happy that Hayden was a woman. Given Hayden’s admiration for Caroline, they might have been a match. That could have caused a lot of trouble for many people.
Caroline had no idea that Hugh could imagine so many scenarios just by seeing her.
As Caroline entered the CEO’s office with her secretary. Hayden stood up to greet her, giving her due respect.
Once the secretary brought water, Hayden brought two plates of fruit and placed them on the coffee table in front of the couch.
Hayden then instructed the secretary to bring some snacks for her and Caroline.
She said, “I rarely snack, but Kevin always insists on stuffing me with snacks. He has good taste, and the snacks he sends to me are always excellent. Please try some, Ms. Caroline.”
Caroline smiled and said, “Mr. York oversees all the hotels under the York family. He’s quite knowledgeable about food. Not only does he understand food, but he also makes delicious dishes. I heard he’s very skilled in cooking, I assume you have tried his cooking several times, Mr. Hayden.”
Kevin was still enthusiastic as always toward Hayden, completely treating Hayden as a woman. Caroline thought to herself that in this unconventional relationship, Hayden had always been the passive and pampered one.
Speaking of that shameless suitor, Hayden unusually praised him a little, “Kevin’s cooking is excellent. His dishes are exceptionally delicious, even surpassing those of five-star chefs. My family was enchanted by his skills.”
Once her entire family was charmed by Kevin, she became isolated and helpless, gradually falling in love with Kevin.
