Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 2408

Did her uncles ever think about the blood relation they had with her before hurting her?

Serenity always had a clear line drawn between acts of kindness and cruelty she received. There was no way she would repay evil deeds with gratitude.

She was not a saint who could smile and say everything was fine after being bullied.

Back in the villa, Serenity sat before the dressing table and allowed Ms. Gardner to put makeup on her. She was sleepy.

“Aunt Ser.”

Sonny had been watching Ms. Gardner apply makeup on Serenity. He called Serenity loudly when he saw her dozing off.

Liberty had told him to keep an eye on his aunt.

Serenity opened her eyes.

Sonny said, “Uncle Zak is on his way here, Aunt Ser. You can’t fall asleep.”

Ms. Gardner said, “I’ve done makeup for many brides, but you’re the first bride who dozed off.”

Serenity said embarrassedly, “I get sleepy easily. Sorry, Ms. Gardner.”

“I understand. You didn’t get a good night’s sleep. Mr. York probably didn’t sleep well either.”

“He’ll still be as energetic as ever even if he didn’t sleep enough.”

Serenity always got sleepy whenever they had sex beyond midnight. In contrast, Zachary was always brimming with energy. He would have gone all night if it were not because her body could not take it.

“It’s normal to be in high spirits during joyous occasions and also perfectly normal to be sleepy because you’re in the early stages of pregnancy.”

Even with regular bedtimes, Serenity felt lethargic. Not to mention now when she barely slept last night.

Elisa lifted Sonny into her arms and asked, “Where did you get the chili flakes?”

“I got them from the kitchen. There were lots of it there, so I took some.”

“Who told you that eating chili flakes will drive your sleepiness away?”

Sonny replied honestly, “No one told me that. I saw lots of chili flakes when I entered the kitchen and ate some. It was so spicy that I cried, but I realized I wasn’t sleepy anymore. That was why I took some with me and thought I could eat it when I felt sleepy again.

“Do you want some, Aunt Elisa? It’s super spicy.”

Elisa smiled and said, “I don’t like spicy stuff. I’m not sleepy either.”

Serenity chimed in, “I was so startled by Sonny taking a bunch of chili flakes out that I’m not sleepy anymore.”
