Gladwin’s words had evident provocation. If Xachary insisted on fighting over the invitation, then his current cultivation rank would be revealed.
Xachary was a sly and cumming man, so he could easily understand the hidden meaning within Gladwin’s words. He chuckled and said, “Why are you so anxious, Great Protector? I just want to see what’s written on the invitation.”
Gladwin said domineeringly, “That’s rude and disrespectful toward Yegor.”
Xachary’s face darkened ever so slightly after seeing Gladwin’s attitude worsening. However, he forced a smile, nodded, and said, “I see. Our Great Protector has secrets now.”
After speaking, Xachary shook his sleeve and turned around. He scanned the powerhouses in the hall and said, “Everyone has worked hard while I was gone. Now that I’ve returned, the burden I’ve left on you all will be relieved significantly.”
Xachary looked at Gladwin again and said, “You’ve worked even harder and have achieved a lot, Great Protector. Use this opportunity to have some time off. You’ll be our sect’s representative in attending this grand event.
“I’ll take over the sect’s affairs from here. Otherwise, I’d find it hard to explain myself to our ancestors if something were to go wrong.”
After speaking, Xachary signaled Thea with his eyes. Then, the two descended the stairs.
Gladwin stood up furiously from his seat. He could no longer maintain his composure, and his face twisted in anger.
He initially thought that Xachary would forcefully try to snatch the invitation. After all, whoever attended the event was equivalent to being the controller of the Timaeus Sect. However, Xachary slyly played a different card, allowing him to have it. Not only did Xachary deliberately mention their two ancestors to threaten him, but he also regained control over the sect’s affairs.
Gladwin’s thoughts contradicted his words. He knew both alliances were on a fence. The powerhouses were afraid now that Xachary was out of seclusion and wanted to avoid getting involved in the conflict. Hence, they were coming up with excuses to leave. It seemed they wanted to wait for the battle’s outcome to be decided before choosing a side.
From their attitude, Gladwin understood that despite his extreme talent, his prestige simply could not compare to Xachary's.
Meanwhile, James, Maxine and his children stood atop a spiritual mountain.
James pointed at the Sanctum Genesis World, then said, “I’ve conquered these lands for you. These two Genesis Worlds belong to us.
“They’re the passages to Skynet, the Dark World, and the Forladtt Land. For the Dark World’s beings to arrive at the Forladtt Land, they must use this passage.”
