Tyrone smiled affectionately, ruffling her hair. “You're exceptional on your own. It's a combination of brilliance and luck.”

Tyrone was right; they weren't contradictory at all.

Hitting decline on the call, Tyrone scooped his wife up in his arms and carried her toward the bedroom.

Alicia was slightly curious. Tyrone was supposed to be 'dead' right now, so the only people who would call him were his closest circle, like Kenney Lockwood and Clayton.

“Who's calling you? Is it an emergency?” she asked, unable to suppress her curiosity.

Because the phone was ringing again.

“Nothing important. He just has too much time on his hands,” Tyrone muttered dismissively, tossing the phone aside.

Alicia was puzzled. Were they fighting?

It didn't make sense. They had been close friends for years, and despite their competitive banter, they had never genuinely fallen out.

“Did you let Jade stay over and give her a job at White Corporation?” Tyrone asked.

Alicia nodded.

“Clayton is calling to interrogate us,” Tyrone said, finally answering the phone as the relentless ringing continued.

On the other end of the line, Clayton's voice was sharp and tinged with annoyance. “Jade is Brandon's daughter. You finally managed to get her out of White Corporation, and now you're bringing her back in? Aren't you worried this is all an act?”
