Rich Radiant and Over Him (Alicia and Vincent) novel Chapter 564

Alicia had Felix drive Jade to the apartment. The place was flawless, from the decor to the prime location—Tyrone had personally picked it out for Alicia.

Felix didn't say a single word to Jade during the ride. His guard remained completely up the entire time.

It wasn't until he dropped her off at the apartment that Felix finally spoke. “Ms. White, Director Shelton may be kind-hearted, but she is not someone to be trifled with. If you and Brandon are still harboring any malicious schemes, I highly recommend you don't dig your own graves.”

Felix shot her a dark, warning glare before turning on his heel and leaving.

Jade stood frozen at the doorway for a long time. She completely understood Felix's hostility.

Felix was Tyrone's man, his most trusted confidant. Protecting Alicia was his duty, plain and simple.

As she unlocked the door, Jade realized with a jolt of surprise that she had suddenly learned how to put herself in someone else's shoes.

It was a skill she had never possessed before.

Growing up, her mother had only taught her how to claw and snatch, and her father had only taught her how to scheme and calculate.

She hadn't even known that stealing from others was illegal or immoral because Brandon and her mother had convinced her that whatever she managed to grab was rightfully hers.

Right up until her downfall, Jade believed that anything she could take by force belonged to her.

But she had overlooked one crucial detail: things that truly belonged to someone else could never be stolen, no matter how much cunning or manipulation she employed.

Things like Tyrone. Like White Corporation. Like... Clayton.

Jade smiled a bitter, self-deprecating smile. She had spent her entire life fighting. She fought an idealized version of Nicole for her grandfather's love, fought everyone around her for prestige, and later fought Alicia for Tyrone and control of White Corporation.

All her scheming, and she was only fighting for things that were fundamentally Alicia's, things no one could ever take away.

Alicia was so incredibly lucky to have met Tyrone, a man who truly loved her, who saw only her, who was willing to lift her up, nurture her, and shower her with affection.

But as for Jade herself... the rot had set into her roots the very day her parents dragged her back into the White family.

No matter how hard she tried to repent or make amends now, it was simply too late.

A thoroughly broken, toxic person like her didn't deserve anyone's affection.
