"Make him truly mine, let me carry his child..." Natalia wanted Susanna to slip a pill into Clayton's drink, sleep with him, and get pregnant with his baby.
Clayton was a deeply principled man. He would never allow his child to be born out of wedlock. He would undoubtedly marry Susanna to give the child a legitimate name.
"Do you honestly think that if you scheme against him and drug him, he'll marry you out of guilt?" Jade said through gritted teeth.
"Of course not. Because the drugs... will be planted by you. I'll just be the tragic victim. So, Jade, I'm afraid you'll have to take the fall," Susanna smiled, pressing a small vial into Jade's hand.
"If Clayton directs his anger at you, I'll plead for mercy on your behalf. But this is a job only you can do," Susanna chuckled. This was her and Natalia's ultimate goal.
They were treating Jade as a disposable pawn, squeezing out her very last drop of usefulness.
She was going to be the stepping stone for Susanna's rise to power.
Jade furrowed her brow, staring at Susanna, her voice tight with suppressed rage. "And if I refuse?"
"If you refuse..." Susanna smiled sweetly. "Clayton treats me so well. It would only take one word from me to have you thrown out onto the street. And then... well, you can imagine what will happen to you."
Jade took a deep breath. She knew Susanna and Natalia were banking on the fact that she was entirely out of options.
Her palms ached as she squeezed her hands together. She finally understood that making deals with the devil meant risking being devoured whole, leaving nothing behind.
"Then I'll just tell him you're a fraud. If I go down, I'm taking you with me." Jade felt a sharp sting in her hands.
She would rather drag them both down than do something so vile to Clayton.
"Try it. Let's see if Clayton trusts you, or if he trusts me." Susanna scoffed coldly, making it clear she wasn't the least bit afraid of Jade's threats.
Because Clayton wouldn't believe a word Jade said.
"Think it over carefully. Tomorrow morning... out of the goodness of your heart, you're going to make breakfast for us. And while you're at it, you'll slip this into his food... It's not that hard, right?" Susanna whispered with a laugh before turning away.

"Mr. Brown, this meeting was exceptionally pleasant. I hope the collaboration between Elegance and White Corporation will only grow stronger," Alicia smiled, shaking hands with the partners and personally walking them to the door.
The negotiations and the dinner had been a resounding success. Alicia had investigated everyone's preferences in advance—even the distinct tastes of their wives and mistresses.
She had even preemptively resolved a few personal headaches for Mr. Brown that he hadn't been able to fix himself.
