Jade smirked. "So, you're admitting you plagiarized?"

Alicia remained composed, calmly seated as she twisted the ring on her finger. It was her wedding band from Tyrone Lynch, and she hadn't taken it off once since his 'accident.'

"Alicia, you need to explain yourself right now! Don't drag the entire architectural design department down with you! If this gets out, how will White Corporation maintain its reputation in the industry?" one of the senior executives urged, clearly on edge.

If it were just Jade making the accusation, they might have been able to contain the fallout. But the room was filled with reporters and industry leaders from other major corporations, making it impossible for White Corporation to cover for Alicia, even if they wanted to.

"Plagiarism?" Alicia echoed with a faint smile.

Her composure seemed to unnerve Jade, who grew flustered and angry. "Alicia," Jade snapped, her brow furrowed, "you're just a novice. It’s fine if your work isn't perfect; there's plenty of room to grow. You didn't have to ruin your career by plagiarizing. This would make Grandpa turn in his grave with shame."

"Grandpa wouldn't be ashamed of me," Alicia retorted as she rose to her feet, glancing at Felix. "He would only look down on you and your parasitic father even more."

Felix nodded and took a prepared flash drive to the head judge's laptop.

"You seem a little too confident, Jade," Alicia said with a smile. "It appears you copied the original design files from someone else's computer and took the physical sketches without bothering to examine them closely."

All the misdirection Alicia had laid out before was for this very moment. She wanted to push Jade into a corner, forcing her to act rashly. Jade had possessed the original designs for a while but hadn't dared to alter or study them in detail. She was afraid that any change she made might be inferior to the original; she was afraid of losing. More than that, she was afraid of failing to completely destroy Alicia. Alicia had counted on her rival's malicious and fearful nature.
