Rich Radiant and Over Him (Alicia and Vincent) novel Chapter 445

The Lynch family was a wreck now—practically gift-wrapped for Shaw to sweep up as he pleased.

Clayton knew exactly what would happen next: he’d become the prime target for the real power players working behind the scenes.

He glanced at Alicia, nearly laughing aloud. She and Tyrone really were two of a kind—right down to their devious schemes.

“Well then, here’s to a successful partnership.” Clayton grinned, shaking Alicia’s hand.

...

The White family estate.

Reginald’s health had declined sharply. Now he needed a doctor posted in his bedroom around the clock, just in case something happened unexpectedly.

“Grandpa’s pushed himself too hard these past years,” Clayton murmured, ushering Alicia quietly into the bedroom. “Since last year, he’s only managed to hold on thanks to those life-sustaining injections.”

The old man’s room looked less like a bedroom and more like a hospital suite now, not unlike how Maddox’s room had once been. The steady beeping of machines filled the air, and the oxygen concentrator hummed nonstop in the corner.

Reginald lay in bed, visibly thinner and frail—propped up by sheer force of will and medicine.

“R...Reginald,” Alicia whispered, her breath catching in her throat.

The moment Reginald saw Alicia, a spark lit up his weary eyes. For a split second, he seemed to mistake her for his wife in their younger days.

“Alicia...” The old man tried to sit up, but Clayton gently held him back.

“Grandpa, take it easy. The doctor said you shouldn’t strain yourself,” Clayton said softly.

Alicia stepped forward, fighting the sting behind her eyes. “Reginald, please take care of yourself... I’ll be going abroad to study for a couple of years.”

The so-called studies were only partly for her own growth. More importantly, Alicia needed to disappear for a while—to stay safely out of sight while she brought the baby into the world, and to watch, from the sidelines, as Natalia and her cronies made fools of themselves.

When she came back, that would be the day she settled all scores.

Reginald nodded, swallowing hard against the tears in his throat. He would hold on—he had to—until his Alicia returned.
