Rich Radiant and Over Him (Alicia and Vincent) novel Chapter 434

Stephen glared at Vincent, his anger palpable. “Are you planning to destroy your own brothers? What does it mean, kicking them out of the company?”

His breath hitched, and Vincent’s mother hurried over to steady him, worry etched on her face.

Vincent let out a short, incredulous laugh as he looked at Stephen. “My mother only gave birth to me and Mira. At most, I’ll admit I have one sister. What brothers are you talking about?”

Vincent’s mother, clearly anxious, spoke up. “Vincent, what on earth have you done? Even if Mayfield and the others aren’t my children…” She glanced nervously at Stephen, trying to play the part of the gracious, tolerant wife. “But they’re still your half-brothers. You all need to stand together.”

Vincent almost laughed out loud at his mother’s endless display of self-sacrifice. He used to go along with her act, back when he didn’t have the power to resist, but now he couldn’t stomach it for another second.

“Mom, why don’t you and Dad keep up your picture-perfect marriage routine? I really don’t have the time to play along anymore. Let Mira keep you company at home.” Vincent stepped over to Stephen, his gaze cold. “Dad, you’re not getting any younger. Maybe it’s time you stepped down from the board and handed over the reins. You don’t want to work yourself into an early grave, do you?”

Stephen was so furious he nearly lost his balance. In that moment, he finally realized the truth—he’d been completely deceived by the son who had always played the obedient, loving child.

The only reason he’d agreed to hand over his shares and authority to Vincent, even temporarily, was because he’d always believed he understood his son’s weaknesses. He thought Vincent was easy to control.

After all, Vincent had once knelt for hours, begging him to come home for his mother’s birthday, just because she’d shed a single tear. Vincent had only been eight years old.

Was Vincent already scheming at eight?

His whole life, Vincent’s performance had been calculated to reinforce one thing: he was easy to manipulate, soft-hearted, ready to compromise the moment his mother or sister was involved.
