Tyrone was gone. The news exploded everywhere, and the funeral home was swarmed by reporters, leaving barely any room to breathe.
Alicia, dressed head to toe in black with sunglasses and a face mask, wanted nothing to do with anyone.
“My condolences,” someone murmured as they passed, offering Alicia a hollow gesture as they came to pay their last respects.
The tabloids had a field day, spinning stories about Alicia marrying into wealth for a chance at the Lynch family fortune, only to end up empty-handed.
More than one headline gleefully declared that Alicia would inherit nothing—Tyrone had invested every penny before his death, and with the projects now under investigation, the assets were frozen. Alicia wouldn’t see a single cent.
Some went further, insinuating that Alicia had married Tyrone for the inheritance, and perhaps even had a hand in his death.
In short, the media circus was relentless, rumor piling on rumor until it was impossible to tell truth from fiction.
Winnie refused to let Alicia look at her phone, determined to protect her from more pain.
Alicia stayed silent through it all—no phone, no words, no interaction, lost in her own world.
Mina and her friends, though, couldn’t resist seizing the moment to taunt Alicia. They’d waited for this day, hoping she’d finally lose her last lifeline with Tyrone gone, and fall back to rock bottom—ripe for humiliation, just like before.
“Alicia, you really are a curse. Tyrone’s dead, and it’s all your fault,” Mina sneered, with Jade by her side, pretending they were there to mourn but barely hiding their satisfaction.
Alicia ignored them completely, as if they didn’t exist.
In her mind, only one thought echoed: Tyrone isn’t dead. This is all part of his plan…
She lied to herself, clinging to the hope that it would all pass and Tyrone would come back.
“Show some respect for the dead. Please leave,” Easton said firmly, stepping between Alicia and her tormentors. Whatever happened, he wouldn’t let anyone bully his sister-in-law today.
Mina's lips curled into a smile she couldn’t quite suppress.
They all clearly thought they’d won. The thought of Alicia’s fall from grace delighted them.
“Let’s see what happens to Alicia next,” Jade said, her tone almost gleeful.
“So pathetic,” Natalia chimed in. “She married Tyrone for the money and ended up with nothing, plus a whole list of enemies. Her life’s about to be even worse than when she was an orphan.”
Mina cast a cold glance back at the funeral home, where Alicia sat alone, looking utterly defeated. “My brother’s in prison because of her. The Holloways, the Lawsons—they’ll never let her off the hook. Just wait.”
“I noticed Vincent was paying her a lot of attention,” Jade said pointedly. “Back there, he looked like he was warning us. If Alicia manages to cozy up to Vincent, we’ll have a much harder time dealing with her…”
Mina’s expression darkened instantly. “She might be shameless, but the Lawsons still have their pride. No family would welcome a woman who brought such misfortune. And after what she did to Mira Lawson, she’s already burned that bridge. I’ll make sure Vincent’s mother hears about it. Someone will help us bring her down.”
