Chapter 98 Under Surveillance

Before the slap could land on my face, Levi immediately reacted by raising his hand and gripping Jeremiah’s wrist. Jeremiah tried to pull away, but Levi’s strength was far greater than his.

His expression turned grim, and he had no choice but to soften his tone and say, “I have something important to discuss with you. I need you to tell him to leave so that we can talk privately.”

Before had the chance to speak, Levi decisively interjected, saying, “In your dreams! You were already planning on hitting Jane with me standing right here. 11 I’m not around, who knows what you’d do

Jeremiah remained silent, his gaze fixed on me with hopeful expectation.

Yet I still couldn’t meet his expectations as I replied, “Let’s discuss it right here.”

Lassumed be wanted to talk about the divorce since I seriously doubteil that there was anything else that he wanted to talk about

feretniah said smugly, “I know you’re doing all this just to get back at me, and I know I neglected you in the past, Jane. If you promise to be good, cut them off, and leave Elsa alone, I know we can go back to the way things were. In fact, I promise to treat you even better than before.”

I couldn’t help but furrow my brows as I listened to Jeremiah’s hypocritical remarks. I sneered and said, “It seems like the Comell family is coming down pretty hard on you. And yet, you’re still taking Elsa’s side? You two must be the definition of true love.”

I met Jeremiah’s intense gaze and added, “I’ve said it before, and I’m telling you again–this divorce case is a done deal. Your denial won’t change that. I have plenty of ways to ensure I win this divorce case. You’ll soon realize it, Jeremiah ”

Jeremiah’s gaze then flitted between Eric and Levi before settling on Eric. “Who would’ve thought that someone as powerful as you would end up being a rebound? You see, Jane’s already got herself a new man.”

After saying that, Jeremiah had a smug grin on his face as he turned to leave. He was satisfied with his little provocation to stir up trouble among us.

1 stole a glance at Eric, and sure enough, his expression had soured. I wasn’t sure why, but while Jeremiah’s presence hadn’t bothered me in the slightest, seeing Eric like this made me feel oddly guilty

“You’re back so quickly?” I asked as I stepped aside to let Eric in. I then quipped with a grin, “You haven’t been spying on me, have you?

He stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes meeting mine. He then leaned over, close enough for me to feel the heat of his breath, and whispered, “And what if I said I have?”

I suddenly felt my mind go blank with a rush of buzzing thoughts, and when I looked up, I found myself staring directly into his eyes.
