Revenge is best served cold novel Chapter 227

Just as we arrived home, the doorbell rang.

Opening the door, Levi greeted me with a smile, "Hey, Jane! I'm here to visit."

Eric, who had just changed into his clothes, immediately walked over and furrowed his brows together. He asked, "What are you doing here?"

Levi rolled his eyes. "What are you doing at home?"

He turned to me. "I thought Eric was on a business trip."

Eric casually wrapped his arm around my shoulders with a teasing look on his face. "I came back early. I bet you're disappointed."

Levi snorted, clearly unbothered. "I'm here to see Jane. Whether you're here or not doesn't matter. I'll just pretend you're invisible."

With that, he squeezed between us and swatted Eric's hand away.

I smiled helplessly and closed the door.

Eric followed Levi in and couldn't help but remind him, saying, "Jane is married now. She's my wife."

My face flushed slightly as I lowered my head, not saying a word.

Levi wasn't bothered. "So what if you're married? You two are just business partners. Don't think I don't know. Just because you two got a marriage certificate doesn't mean you can limit her social life, does it?"

Eric smiled and said slowly, "Well, not exactly. It depends on who she's socializing with."

Levi's eyes widened. "What do you mean by that?"

Seeing the tension rising between them, I quickly intervened. "Alright, alright. It's been a while since you've seen each other, so stop arguing all the time. I'm going to cook dinner now, and if I come back to find you two still arguing, you'll both be kicked out to the street!"

With that, I turned and walked into the kitchen.

Since I enjoyed cooking, the maids usually didn't prepare dinner but instead stocked up on fresh ingredients.

Just as I was about to speak, Eric stopped me. He shook his head with a mischievous grin.

I chuckled helplessly, already imagining the look on Levi's face when he realized what was coming.

Sure enough, as soon as Levi finished the dishes, Eric called out to him, "I'll thank you on behalf of my dishwasher. Thanks to you, it gets to rest today."

Levi's eyes widened in disbelief. "You have a dishwasher?"

"Of course. With such a large villa, you think we don't have one?" Eric replied with a laugh.

Before Levi could get too worked up, I quickly handed him a batch of cookies I had baked earlier. "I made these myself as a reward for you."

The sudden gift cooled Levi's temper. He immediately turned his gaze toward Eric, a playful challenge in his eyes.

Once he tucked the cookies away, he suddenly remembered why he had come over to mooch a free meal.
