Revenge is best served cold novel Chapter 101

On the evening of the banquet, Eric came to pick me up after I was done getting ready. We headed to the venue together.

I was attending as Eric's date while Levi was invited as a designer.

Originally, Levi and I had considered using this banquet as the official Caldera debut for LunaGlo. But after careful thought, we realized this wasn't our stage. It wouldn't be appropriate to steal the spotlight.

As I walked into the grand hall, my arm linked with Eric's, the atmosphere seemed to freeze for a moment. All around me, curious eyes swept in my direction. Each gaze was filled with speculation about my relationship with him.

After entering, Eric had some socializing to do, so I stayed behind and waited for Levi. He was already ten minutes late due to traffic.

"Jane, how could you show up with Mr. Flint so openly? You're still married. This isn't a good look for you."

Before I saw her, I heard her voice.

Elsa's falsely concerned tone came from behind me. When I turned around, I caught the flicker of malice in her eyes before she managed to mask it.

I glanced around the room but didn't see Jeremiah. Then, it hit me—he probably wasn't on the guest list.

This event was exclusive to top business elites, and Jeremiah was far from that. As for Elsa, she must have gotten in thanks to her designer status.

She had spoken loudly—loud enough for everyone nearby to hear. All eyes turned to me.

Murmurs of gossip spread through the crowd.

"I heard rumors about Mr. Flint and Ms. Jane before, but she's still married. And now, they're even showing up at a banquet together?"

"Flaunting it before the divorce? That's bold… and shameless."

Elsa's eyes flickered with satisfaction, but I caught it.

Elsa leaned weakly into her friend's arms. Her face was pale, but the subtle smirk tugging at her lips didn't escape me.

I met her gaze calmly. "She told you that?"

At my words, the woman quickly stepped in front of Elsa as if protecting her. "Don't even think about making things difficult for Elsa! She wasn't going to expose you. I just can't stand people who wear fakes."

I sighed, looking up at the ceiling. Were people really this gullible? It was almost laughable how easily they let themselves be manipulated.

Shaking my head, I turned back to her. "You're accusing me of wearing a fake. And what proof do you have that you're not just slandering me?"

Hearing that, the woman yanked Elsa forward with righteous determination.

"Elsa, tell her! Don't worry, I've got your back. If she dares to bully you, we won't let her get away with it!"
