Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James) novel Chapter 1866

The River Thames ran deep, and Colby had no plans to let the White family continue their shady dealings. He spent a long time overseas, reshuffling the White family's influence from the ground up.

To most, Colby was a formidable figure, respected and feared in both the legitimate and underworld circles. But the ones he took down were all deserving of their fate—irredeemable villains to the core.

“Those days were rough, but they’re in the past now,” Colby said, holding Sophie close. “Every moment with you is what I treasure most.”

Living in the moment was what truly mattered to him. Maybe it was by some stroke of luck or divine mercy that he’d ended up with the life he had now. He always felt like he was living on borrowed time. But even if in the next life he found himself in hell, just one lifetime with Sophie would be Heaven’s greatest gift.

Colby pulled a small cross from his pocket. “For a long time, I put my faith in God, but now... I believe we make our own destiny.”

In this world, only Sophie could see his softer side. She was the one person he truly valued above all else. Handing her the cross, he wrapped his hand around hers and asked softly, “Marry someone like me—any regrets?”

“What a silly thing to ask,” Sophie said, giving his nose a playful tweak. “Marrying you was the best decision I ever made.”

Now, with hair turned snowy white, they were simply a legendary couple who had once left their mark on the world. “Colby, I’ve had a truly happy life,” Sophie said, resting her head on his shoulder. To Colby, Sophie was still the bright and beautiful woman she’d always been, unchanged by time.

Gently stroking her hair, Colby, now weaker, murmured, “Honey, I’ll head on first and wait for you. Take your time getting there. After being under your watchful eye all these years, I finally have some time to myself. Let me enjoy it a bit longer…”

He wished for Sophie to live a long life. But he feared she might feel too alone without him.
