Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James) novel Chapter 1814

James trailed behind Sophie as she eagerly began exploring the Burke mansion, her eyes wide with curiosity. The place was like a massive labyrinth, brimming with intrigue for a high school junior like her.

A maid approached them and said, "Ms. Sophie, the guest rooms are all on the second floor."

"Oh, got it!" Sophie replied, following the maid up the grand staircase. The Burke estate's main house was filled with wonders at every turn.

James watched her from a distance, a soft smile playing on his lips. Seeing Sophie happy made all his efforts worthwhile.

"I think I'll take this room; it's so spacious and pretty," Sophie declared.

James's face froze when he saw which room she had chosen. Even the maid looked surprised. "Ms. Sophie, this is the master's room."

Sophie looked shocked too. "Wow, looks like we have similar taste. I thought this one was the best too."

"No worries. I'm hardly ever home anyway. If you like it, it's yours."

"Well, if you insist, I won't hold back," Sophie said, stepping confidently into the room.

She sank into James's imported, ultra-soft bed and loved it instantly. "Could you bring me a cup of hot milk?" she asked.

"How did you know I like hot milk before bed?"

"Well, most girls seem to," James replied, a bit mysteriously.

Sophie's suspicion was piqued, but given how kind James had been, she let it slide. She knew he'd done his homework on her, so knowing a few personal details was no surprise.

"You rest up. I've got some work to finish," James said.

"Hey, wait a second!" Sophie sat up, curiosity written all over her face. "With such a big family, do you have a tutor?"

"I was in a meeting for two hours, and you only finished one paper? And now you want me to help?"

Sophie forced a laugh. "But if I don't finish, I'll get in trouble with the teacher tomorrow. You wouldn't want to see me getting scolded, right? You're my fiancé, after all. Imagine the gossip if people hear that James's fiancée got in trouble for not doing her homework—how embarrassing!"

"You understand how embarrassing that would be?"

"Of course!"

"Then get it done. No sleep until it's finished."

James turned and left, his expression unchanged.

Sophie felt a chill run through her. They called him the perfect gentleman, but she was beginning to see otherwise. No wonder the last girl wasn't into him. If it were her, she'd go mad dealing with James too.
