“Really? It seems like it.”
“Fiona, you’re going to be the death of me.”
Alec was at a loss for words to describe Fiona's carefree nature.
He said, “You should have at least thought to check out the nearby convenience stores around the school first.”
“Oh, that’s a great idea!”
Fiona grabbed Alec’s arm and dragged him towards the convenience store.
Alec, with no choice, followed right behind her.
In no time, they found themselves at the entrance of the store.
The shopkeeper was busy handing out items from behind the glass counter to a stream of students.
One particular snack, wrapped in an elegant package with various colors, caught Fiona’s eye. It was called “Dream Drops.”
The tagline read: “Want to ace your exams? Eat Dream Drops.”
“Shopkeeper, give us two packs! I want the pink one!”
Fiona was instantly drawn to the pink packaging.
Alec cast an incredulous glance at Fiona beside him.
“Pink?”
Alec was almost amused by her pickiness. “Seriously, you even have a preference?”
“Sorry, we’re out of pink, but boys usually prefer the blue,” the shopkeeper said, placing two packs of the blue-wrapped snacks in front of Fiona and Alec.
“That'll be fifty altogether.”
“Twenty-five per pack? That’s so pricey! What are these candies made of?”
Fiona was surprised.
“In a moment, I’ll collapse. You get it?”
With years of camaraderie between them, Fiona immediately understood Alec’s plan.
In just a short while, Alec fell to the ground and began to convulse.
Fiona quickly shouted at the store entrance, “Help! The shopkeeper’s candy is dangerous!”
Her voice was loud, drawing the attention of many students, and a few who had tasted the candy spat it out in panic.
“You little brat! Don’t spread lies! Plenty of people have eaten my candy, and nothing happened to them! You’re just trying to scam me!”
The shopkeeper ran out in a fluster.
Fiona urgently replied, “It was your product that did this! Your dodgy products are to blame! I’m calling the police right now!”
The shopkeeper’s face turned red with anger. “You little rascal, are you looking for trouble?”
