Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James) novel Chapter 1659

May looked at Harold with a tender gaze, as if seeing someone else through him.

"May?"

Sophie's voice from the side snapped May out of her reverie, and she turned to look at Sophie and Colby, saying, "I was just lost in thought. Please, have a seat. I'll go prepare some refreshments for you."

With that, May turned and walked to the kitchen, taking something out of the fridge.

Sophie glanced at Harold, the half-spoken words of May echoing in her mind.

Clouds…

Clouds what?

It wasn't the first time May had looked at Colby but called out someone else's name.

"I'm so glad you could come today," May said, placing some snacks in front of Sophie and Colby.

Additionally, she put a gingerbread cookie in front of Harold.

Seeing the treat typically favored by children, Sophie was momentarily taken aback.

"My dear, you've always disliked sweets since you were young."

Holding Colby's hand, May continued, "That's why I've prepared these snacks specially for you, sugar-free."

Colby frowned slightly at the sight of a classically shaped peach pastry on his plate.

Upon seeing the peach pastry, Harold immediately said, "Auntie, you're mistaken! I'm the one who loves peach pastries."

"What are you talking about, child? Don't I know what you like? You've always been fond of my green dumplings, haven't you?"

As she spoke, May turned to Sophie, saying, "Sophie, I know you love gingerbread cookies, so I always keep some at home. Please, try one."

Sophie looked down at the gingerbread cookie on her plate. She indeed loved them as a child, but that was a long time ago.

"Have they grown... but what about Cloud? What about the child Cloud? How is he?"

Suddenly, May's grip tightened on the nanny's arm, her previously gentle face now panicked: "How is Cloud? How are his legs? Harold, your brother, how is your brother!"

May hurried to Harold's side, urgently saying, "That child was the brightest, what will he do without his legs? Quick, hide! Auntie will protect you! Run!"

"Auntie!"

Harold, fearing Sophie would hear more, immediately said to the nanny, "Quick, help Auntie back to her room to rest!"

"Cloud... Harold... my good children, you're all such good children..."

May's sudden breakdown left the three in the living room somewhat at a loss.

After May was taken away, the nanny came down from upstairs and said to the three, "I'm so sorry, our madam often gets like this, prone to emotional collapses. Usually, the master doesn't let her see people. Please, excuse us."
