"Damn it!"
Adler yanked off his damaged mask and the voice changer around his neck, fuming. "Who the hell told you to shoot at me? My limited edition, custom-made suit! You're gonna pay for this!"
Timothy glanced at the handgun in his hand, then at the driver crawling out of the car. Was this all just a setup?
"Sorry, Timothy. Just being cautious, didn't mean to offend. Hope you understand," Sophie said, dusting herself off as she stood up.
The masked figures who had formed a human wall were all bodyguards from Aldridge Global.
Timothy frowned. "Why? You were testing me?"
"You must be new to Devonport," Sophie said. "This road doesn't lead from Burke Estate to Burke International; it's the opposite direction. If you had noticed, you would've known that from the start."
"So, the message you had me send last night was a test."
Adler clapped Timothy on the shoulder. "Sophie wasn't just testing you; she was aiming to trap that group in one go. Congrats, kid, you passed our test."
Timothy's eyes darkened. This Sophie was as cunning as the boss had said. Luckily, he hadn't been easily fooled. Otherwise, today would have been a disaster.
If he had fallen into Colby's hands, he might not have made it back to Summerfield alive.
"What do you mean by 'trap that group in one go'?" Timothy asked.
"It means there's another group that's just fallen into your trap," Sophie explained.
Timothy quickly put the pieces together. If Adler was here, then Colby...
Meanwhile—
Colby handed a handgun to Jenna. "Let's get to work. Remember, don't kill them. We need some alive."
"But..."
Really? She had to fight too?
Jenna glanced at the gun in her hand and pouted. Alright then! Let's do this!
Rick got out of the car, and the alley quickly filled with screams. Jenna took down one guy with a shoulder throw, then kicked another who was charging at her. When a thug aimed to shoot, Jenna fired a quick, deadly accurate shot, knocking the gun out of his hand.
She blew the smoke off her gun barrel. "Haven't practiced in years! Today’s a good day to brush up!"
Colby, wearing black leather gloves, advanced without a flinch. Finally, his backup arrived in an armored vehicle. Faced with the Costello family's army, these twenty men didn't stand a chance.
