Chapter 222
Chapter 222
The punch landed with brutal force, vicious and devastating.
Caught completely off guard, Nelson took a punch and let out a muffled groan as his flimsy chair instantly collapsed beneath him. The small tableware crashing down, scattering its contents across the floor in a chaotic mess.
A wave of gasps and exclamations rose from the crowd as people turned to look. Startled, Kelly cried out, “Brother!”
Nelson was sent sprawling onto the floor, his usual composure shattered.
Valerie’s face paled slightly as she cried out, “Aiden!”
Aiden was deaf to the world around him, his eyes blazing red like a beast’s. In that moment, only one thought consumed him, ‘Kill him!‘
Valerie dashed forward, blocking his path. She shrieked, “Stop it!”
Aiden’s mind reeled. ‘She’s still protecting him?‘
A furious hum roared in Aiden’s mind, a sharp pain stabbing through his head as rage drowned out all reason. He shoved Valerie aside and, without a word, lunged at Nelson, swinging his fist.
Valerie stumbled back from the shove, and Kelly steadied her.
Nelson wasn’t the type to take a beating lying down. He retaliated with a punch, and the two men were instantly locked in a vicious brawl, fists flying.
Some bystanders were already filming. Kelly, almost jumping in panic, cried out, “Valerie, my brother’s not himself today. I think… he’s having a manic episode!”
Valerie’s heart sank as the image of Nelson from her previous life, his legs broken, doomed to a wheelchair forever, flashed through her mind. Her eyes welled up with tears. Seizing the moment, she lunged forward and threw her arms around Aiden, shrieking, “Stop! We’re overseas, do you want to get arrested here?”
But she could barely wrap her arms around Aiden’s waist, his overpowering strength and height made her dangle helplessly in midair.
Valerie shrieked in terror, her voice thick with sobs as she begged, “Please, Aiden, stop! Stop fighting… I… I’m pregnant…”
Those words hit Aiden like a bolt of lightning, as if a fog had been lifted from his mind. He froze in place, his body going completely still.
Nelson heard it too. His heart clenched tightly, a faint ache settling in.
Valerie clung tightly to Aiden’s waist, her eyes glistening with unshed tears as she whispered soothingly, “Please stop fighting, darling…”
Nelson wiped the blood from the corner of his lips and looked up. His eyes immediately landed on Aiden’s silhouette, outlined against the light, his entire being radiating a sinister aura, like the devil himself.
He thought, ‘I’d always heard about his temper issues/but I never imagined it could be this terrifying.
‘If it weren’t for the debt she owed her adoptive parents, there was no way Valerie would have ever agreed to marry a man like him.‘
Valerie reached out and gently took Aiden’s hand/His knuckles were scraped raw, blood oozing out and smearing her fingers. She paused, heart aching at the sight, then carefully avoided his wound and softly clasped his wrist instead.
She held him close, just as she had countless times before during his outbursts in her previous life, her voice soft and coaxing. “I’m scared,” she whispered, “Let’s go home, okay?”
The fury in Aiden’s eyes subsided as he felt the warm, soft body pressed against his back. His clenched fists relaxed. Removing her hands from his waist, he turned and pulled her into a crushing embrace, as if he wanted to meld her into his very being.

Chapter 2221
Valerie rested her chin on Aiden’s shoulder, tilting her head up slightly as she gently stroked his back in a soft, sleepy valea, che murmured. “Torte Can we go home now?”
Aiden held her close, his breath ragged. The animalistic glint in his bloodshot eyes gradually softened. In a low, urgent voice, he murmured Vilang pad home now.”
A sharp pain stabbed through Valerie’s heart as she murmured a quiet reply.
She thought, ‘Go home? Back to that house where I have to share my husband with another woman?
Valerie’s lips twisted into a self–mocking smile, but she remained silent.
Unnoticed by her, the man, his earlier frenzy barely subdued, cast a cautious glance at her abdomen.
Aiden wondered to himself, ‘Is there really a child growing inside her? Our child?‘
The realization hit Aiden hard, he was both deeply moved and overjoyed. He gently took her hand, guiding her forward with protective care, every movement filled with tenderness.
Kelly hurried over to Nelson, her face full of apology. She said anxiously, “I’m so sorry, sir. My brother… well, he’s not in his right mind today. He’s really not usually like this. Are you… are you okay?”
Nelson’s clothes were filthy, his face bruised and battered, he looked like a complete mess.
Kelly’s guilt deepened and she wanted to help Nelson up, but he brushed her hand away and said tersely, “Look around.”
A crowd of onlookers had gathered. Kelly apologized to the onlookers one by one, then went to negotiate compensation with the stall owner.
By the time Kelly finished settling the compensation, Nelson was already gone.
Kelly scratched her head in frustration.
Kelly thought, frustrated, ‘I didn’t even pay his medical bills yet. Why’d he leave so soon?‘
Aiden hailed a cab straight back to the hotel.
Valerie was utterly exhausted and had no intention of even acknowledging him. The moment she got in the car, she drifted into a heavy sleep, shutting him out completely.
Aiden’s heart was further stirred.
He thought to himself, ‘They say pregnant women get drowsy easily…‘
Aiden carefully reached out, placing his hand on her still–flat abdomen. Holding his breath, he gently pressed his ear against it.
Aiden wondered if he could hear their baby, if there was already a tiny heartbeat inside her.
But before he could press closer, Valerie shoved him aside and turned away, her back now to him.
Aiden’s heart lurched. After a brief hesitation, he asked softly, “Did you… see something earlier?”
A sharp, raw pain tore through Valerie’s chest, her nose stinging as her tightly shut eyes grew damp with unshed tears. Yet she stubbornly kept her back to him, refusing to acknowledge him in the slightest.
Aiden assumed she had fallen asleep and hadn’t heard anything, so he quietly kept watch by her side.
When they arrived, Aiden reached out to carry her, but Valerie’s eyes flew open and she stepped out on her own before he could touch her.
Valerie strode into the hotel, heading straight for the room she shared with Kelly, not even glancing back at Aiden.
