‘Valerie!‘ Juliette seethed inwardly.

She took the initiative and dialed the mysterious number that had contacted her before.

She still had no idea who the person was, but he seemed to know a lot about her, and the others,

As soon as the call connected, a flirtatious male voice teased, “Well, did hell just freeze over? What brings the little princess of the Shelton family to call me herself?”

Juliette sneered at the title, the irony biting.

‘He knows damn well who I really am!‘ she thought.

Juliette seethed with resentment, “Just who the hell are you?”

“Does it really matter who I am?” the man purred playfully. “What matters is, you called me, so what’s so important?”

Juliette hesitated for a moment before saying, “I want to meet you.”

“Meet me? You’re not ready for that yet.”

There was no hint of contempt in his voice, just a simple statement of fact.

Juliette’s heart clenched with frustration. She snapped, “Are you only brave enough to hide in the shadows? How can I work with you when I don’t even know who you are? What if you screw me over?”

The man chuckled, “Juliette, if I really wanted to screw you over, do you honestly think you’d still be the little princess of the Shelton family right now?”

Juliette was momentarily speechless, hesitation dawning on her.

The man chuckled and asked, “Alright, spit it out, you want me to take out Valerie, don’t you?”

Juliette’s breath caught.

‘That word, it’s horrifying!‘ she thought, her heart racing.

Yet, Juliette felt a perverse thrill coursing through her. A vicious glint flashed in her eyes as she hissed, “No, that’s not enough. I want to obliterate her, make sure she’s banished permanently from the Shelton family!

“After all, I’m the one and only true heiress of the Shelton family!”

After Valerie agreed to the paternity test, Baz immediately collected her hair and nail samples and headed to the paternity testing center.

During this time, Valerie’s heart was in turmoil.

She thought, ‘Part of me desperately hopes Baz is my father, but another part just can’t believe it’s possible.

Valerie’s phone suddenly rang. She looked in the direction of the sound and reached for the nightstand, but before her fingers could find it, Aiden had already picked it up for her.

Valerie glanced at the caller ID. To her surprise, it was from Endver City.

She thought, ‘The only person I know in Endver City is Russell, and his number’s saved… But this is an unknown number. Could it be… Baz?‘

‘Did the test results come out already?‘

Valerie’s pulse quickened as she answered the call. “Hello?”

“Hello?” a woman’s voice came from the other end.

Valerie felt a slight pang of disappointment. “Who’s this?” she asked.

“Valerie, it’s Jeana Turner. Do you remember me?”

Jeana was Valerie’s former classmate she’d met on the streets of Endver City, the one who was beaten up after being mistaken for a homewrecker.
