The sky darkened, and the earth split from the sheer intensity of the fight.
Sebastian grew stronger as the battle raged on, and his strength surged with every strike. In contrast, Chase became increasingly anxious with every exchange and struggled to keep up.
He thought, "How is this brat only a three-star demigod? His strength is terrifying. I need to get out of here, or I'm done for."
With that decision, he launched a frantic, desperate attack. He hoped to push Sebastian back and create an opening to escape.
But Sebastian saw through his plan and pressed on. His strikes crashed down like relentless waves, as each one was stronger than the last.
Seeing he couldn't escape, Chase said, "Your strength impresses me. How about we call it a truce?" He planned to buy time, as he intended to return to the sect and gather reinforcements to deal with Sebastian later.
But Sebastian ignored him and continued to launch one strike after another to force Chase to retreat.
Chase dropped his guard, and Sebastian kicked him in the chest. The force sent Chase flying back several yards. He coughed up a mouthful of blood mid-air. Surprised and furious, he took advantage of his flight to create distance and turned to flee.
Sebastian quickly pursued him. Though his cultivation base was lower than Chase's, his mastery of the Phantom Stride technique gave him the edge in speed. Soon, the distance between them closed rapidly.
Just as Sebastian was about to catch up, Chase pulled out a signal flare and fired it into the air. It exploded into a pair of intertwined lotus flowers at 300 feet high.
This was the Harmonia Sect's signal for reinforcements. Since the sect was less than 20 miles away, a demigod could reach the location in just a few minutes if flying at full speed.
