Lillian, Gina, and the others watched in despair as Sebastian swallowed the Heartstopper.
"Gosh..." Elsa let out a long, heavy breath. Her eyes were filled with disappointment and worry. She knew all too well how powerful Sebastian was, but now that he had taken the Heartstopper, he would inevitably fall under the control of the Divine Sect.
This would greatly strengthen the Divine Sect, which spelled bad news for the Infernal Gate.
Many of the guests present also sighed in secret, while others looked on with contempt, thinking that Sebastian was nothing more than a fool.
It seemed that he was just someone with great power but lacking resolve, willing to be controlled by an enemy all for the sake of a woman. They considered him weak and foolish.
Lillian, too, was full of disappointment. Tears of sadness and self-reproach streamed down her face.
While she was deeply moved by Sebastian's willingness to sacrifice his freedom for her, this wasn't the outcome she had wanted. Even if she could survive, she knew that Apex wouldn't spare her.
She would rather die than be tormented by him day after day.
Apex burst into ecstatic laughter. Armina, along with the other members of the Divine Sect, could also barely contain their joy.
"I've taken the Heartstopper. Now, you should keep your promise and let her go," Sebastian demanded.
Apex sneered mockingly. "Sebastian, oh Sebastian, I don't know whether to call you naïve or simply foolish. Lillian is my bride. How could I possibly kill her?
"Not only will I spare her, but I'll also make sure to take good care of her. I'll ensure that she's never lonely at night ever again. Hahaha..."
The more Apex thought about it, the more excited he became. He laughed uncontrollably as his shoulders shook with glee.
Sebastian was seething with anger, and he snapped, "You despicable coward! You said you'd let her go!"
Apex mocked him further, "Yes. I did say I'd let her go, but I never said I wouldn't marry her."
"You're despicable!" Sebastian's fury was palpable as an intense killing aura emanated from him.
