Lori watched Sebastian's departing figure while grinding her teeth in frustration. However, Sebastian's strength was far superior to hers. No matter how angry she was, there was nothing she could do about it.
Sebastian retraced the path he had previously walked, using his spiritual senses to search for the Seraphic Tear Pendant. Even so, he still couldn't find it.
Eventually, he arrived outside the cave. He suddenly recalled that when he was detoxifying Kaitlyn, her hands had been all over him. He might have knocked it off in the heat of the moment.
Nevertheless, the cave was empty. Just as he was about to leave, he sensed someone outside.
Assuming it was just another outer apprentice trying to steal his token, he didn't give it much thought and walked out.
Standing outside the cave was a veiled woman—it was Kaitlyn.
"Ms. Gardner, what are you doing here?" Sebastian was startled.
In truth, Kaitlyn's strength didn't particularly impress him, but he was startled because he felt guilty.
Although he had saved her life, he couldn't shake the feeling that he had taken advantage of her vulnerable state.
What worried him more was the possibility that Kaitlyn might be unreasonable and decide to hold him accountable. If that happened, his chances of joining the Netherworld Sect would be ruined.
"What are you doing here?" Kaitlyn asked sharply.
This cave was where she had lost her virginity, and the injustice of it gnawed at her. She had returned, hoping to find some trace of the person who had wronged her.
To her surprise, she found Sebastian instead.
"I'm participating in the assessment. I just happened to come across this place. Is there something wrong with it?" Sebastian responded.
"Don't come here again," Kaitlyn said.
Sebastian nodded and was about to leave.
"Wait!" Kaitlyn called out, making Sebastian's heart skip a beat. Did she recognize him?
"Wait a moment. Do you remember what that old man looked like?" Kaitlyn asked.
"No, he was wearing a mask. I didn't see anything," Sebastian lied.
In truth, he had killed the old man and even lifted the mask to see his face. He knew exactly what the man looked like.
"There's nothing more. You can go," Kaitlyn said with disappointment.
Sebastian let out a long sigh of relief and was about to make a quick exit when he suddenly noticed Kaitlyn holding a pendant. It was his Seraphic Tear Pendant.
"That's mine," Sebastian blurted out, but he immediately regretted it. It was clear now that she had pulled it off him during that incident, which meant that he had just inadvertently admitted that he was the culprit.
"What did you just say?"
Sure enough, Kaitlyn's eyes filled with fury as she looked up at him. Her gaze was murderous.
