"You people are simply unreasonable!" Sebastian was so angry that he almost cursed out loud. He hadn't expected to save such an ungrateful person. If he had known, he would have let her fend for herself.
Heather sneered. "I advise you to watch your mouth. I'm showing you mercy by not killing you. If you keep talking nonsense, I'll make sure you die a horrible death!"
"Enough!" Kaitlyn said coldly. "Let me make it clear one last time. He is here to participate in the assessment.
"If any of you dare to lay a hand on him here, you'll be showing contempt for our Netherworld Sect, and you know the consequences!"
Heather and Wallace immediately fell silent. Although they came from prominent families, they knew their power was nothing compared to the Netherworld Sect.
However, they weren't too worried, as Sebastian was just a commoner. They believed there would be plenty of opportunities to deal with him later
Their only concern was if Sebastian passed the assessment and joined the Netherworld Sect. That would certainly complicate things.
"Thank you, Ms. Gardner," Sebastian said, expressing his gratitude to Kaitlyn.
Kaitlyn didn't respond. She had helped Sebastian only because he had previously assisted her, even though she believed he hadn't truly been able to help. She still wanted to repay the favor.
Moreover, she despised Wallace and Heather's bullying behavior.
By this time, the assessment had concluded, and everyone had returned with most of them looking dejected.
Irvin announced loudly, "The first stage of the assessment is now over. We will begin tallying the scores. Those who scored 60 or above, come forward to register."
The few who passed were envied by those who didn't. In the end, it was recorded that 281 people had passed. The most impressive among them were Wallace and Heather, who scored 276 and 236 points, respectively.
Irvin was particularly pleased with the two of them and publicly announced, "Wallace and Heather have excelled in their performance and are granted direct advancement!"
No one was surprised by this; both Wallace and Heather were skilled warriors, and passing the assessment was easy for them.
It was like a thorn in his heart that could only be removed by killing Sebastian.
Heather's lips curled into a sly smile. She wasn't as indifferent as she appeared; she was deliberately provoking Wallace.
She hoped he would take action against Sebastian.
Irvin's voice rang out, "Congratulations to those who have passed the first stage of the assessment. The second stage will also take place in Misty Forest, where over a hundred outer apprentices will be waiting. Please step forward to receive a token.
"Once you enter Misty Forest, the outer apprentices will try to take your token. If you can hold onto it for an hour, you'll pass the assessment."
The rules were the same as last year, so everyone was well-prepared.
Meanwhile, Wallace kept a close eye on Sebastian. Although killing was prohibited during the assessment, he figured that if he could cause Sebastian to lose his token, there would be plenty of opportunities to deal with him later.
